Tauren
The lists: The Daemonhunters:Mixed List -Brother Captain: Psycannon, Sacred Incense -Grey Knight Squad: 10 man, 1 psycannon, grenades, targeter, auspex etc -Elite Inquisitor: Psycannon, Artificer Armor -His Retinue *Acoylyte with carapace and combi grenade launcher *2 heavy bolter servitors *1 plasma cannon servitor *2 sages -10 man squad of Stormtroopers with plasma guns (mounted in chimera: ML, HF, EA, Smokes, PMSB) -vet serg with bolter and plasma pistol -5 man Stormtroopers with melta guns (mounted in rhino: EA, Smokes, PMSB) The Chaos Marines Nurgle Daemonprince: flying, mark of nurgle, nurgles rot 10 man Plague Marines with 2 plasmas and serg with powerfist and icon 10 man Plague Marines with 2 meltas and serg with powerfist 6 man squad of Terminators with combi meltas, heavy flamer, power fists, etc etc etc? Game type: Sieze ground? 3 objectives, spread out, one on his side near a forest. One in the middle in between 2 walls. 1 on my side in the forest on the left. Terrain was a good smattering, lots of forest on the flanks, some ruins and craters down the middle. Deployment: -Chaos: he deployed spread out, daemonprince in some woods on the right side. Unit of plague marines with plasma's in the middle. Unit of plague marines with melta's on the left side. -Daemonhunters: Deployed on the left flank, chimera loaded with troopers on the left side of the forest with the objective. rhino with Melta's on the right side of the forest with grey knights inbetween the rhino and the forest. Inquisitor squad in a crater in my deployment zone in the dead middle. 1st turn Chaos: He advances with everything, moving the daemonprince out of the forest. His plague marines moved forward and then ran. Left side marines make it into the forest. Middle marines are slower and don't make it to the middle ruins only running 2 inches. Daemonhunters: Chimera churns forward 12 (I think?), drops the storm troopers, hoping to get cover behind the chimera (I didn't have enough though). Knights move forward towards the left side plague marines. Rhino moves forward to cover the knights up from the right side plague marines. Left side Stormtroopers open fire, dropping 2 of the plague marines with plasma. Overheats happen (1 to plasma 1 to serg, both save). Hellguns are ineffective. Weapon fire from the knights sees another marine drops (4 total wounds, but he makes his armor/feel no pain saves, toughness 5 is hard to get at). Stormbolters on the rhino fire at the middle plague marine squad to no effect. Inquisitor squad opens fire, plasma cannon is off course on both shots. Heavy bolters and psy cannon see 1 marine drop after saves. 2nd Turn Chaos: Termies don't come in. He advances with his troops, runs the right side plague marines. Daemon prince takes flight, and attempts to try to get into cover behind a wall, he does. Left side marines move out of the forest and open fire on my stormtroopers, dropping 5. Stormtroopers flee... Daemonhunters: Chimera moves forward six and turns to the side of the nice line of plague marines(melta ones on the left flank). Knights move towards the left flank plague marines. Rhino moves to cover them and turns it's front towards the middle plague marines. Stormtroopers continue to flee (rolled a 9). Chimera opens fire, heavy flamer template, multilazer, storm bolter, and kills nothing... after saves and feel no pain... *le sigh*. Knights open fire killing 1 more bringing the unit down to 6. Rhino opens fire to no effect on the middle squad, but the melta shot killed a plague marine. Inquisitor squad opens fire, plasma cannon kills 2 marines, grenade launcher to no effect, heavy bolters and psycannon kill nothing. (so left side 6 man squad of plague marines, right side 7 man squad). Grey Knights Charge into combat, wiff hard, between the 2 Power weapon, and 8 normal wounds from normal weapons I get... 3 kills... He swings back and kills 5 of my marines (can't make an armor save to save my life), I roll my fearless and lose another. 3rd Turn Chaos: Termies still don't come in. His middle squad of plague marines, opens fire on my inquisitor squad in cover. After shooting and cover 1 of my heavy bolter servitors dies, but one of his plasma marines melts. Daemon prince flies over the wall to land next to my inquisitor squad. Nurgles rot sees my sages drop dead. Close combat sees all of his more 3 plague marines drop, 1 more knights drop. His serg pops from the fearless check. (so 2 knights, a justicar and my brother captain left). I consolidate 6 inches toward the center objective. His Daemonprince charges my inquisitor squad and tears the #!%^ outa them... killing 3 of the remaining 4 members (inquisitor is left, acolyte took it like a man for the inquisitor). Inquisitor stays via iron will. Daemonhunters: Stormtroopers finally rally, and move towards the forest object on the left side on my side of the table. Rhino moves forward and drops the stormtroopers on the left side near the middle objective. Chimera moves to get line of sight on the middle plague marines. Melta's turn a single plague marine to slag. Grey Knights open fire to no effect. Storm bolter on the rhino has no effect. Multilazer and stormbolter on the chimera has no effect. Darn it fail some saves! Close combat sees my inquisitor get squished. He consolidates toward my knights a wooping 6. 4th turn Chaos: Termies still don't come in... he rolled a 1. His Daemon prince flies to just next to my knights. *laugh*. His middle squad opens fire on my storm troopers with melta's. 2 drop after saves, they pass their check to stay put. Nurgles rot fails (he rolled an 11). He charges my knights with his prince. Close combat sees yet another 6 power weapon attacks wiff causing 1 wound (sigh). His attacks back see all but my justicar drop dead. Daemonhunters: I move my chimera forward. I use my rhino to form a wall between the nurgle marines and my stormtroopers who just moved onto the objective. They have enough vision to open fire with the 2 melta's. They do killing 1 more plague marine, leaving 4. My remaining justicar a swings on the daemonprince and causes, 1 wound... he gets squished. 5th turn Chaos: Termies drop in, blow my rhino up (explosions yea!), hits all around (5 inch explosion), my troopers survive without a problem. But his daemon prince takes another wound! He slaughters my storm troopers. He forgot to move his daemonprince, I offered to let him but he refuses. Daemonhunters: I move my chimera to block line of sight to my stormtroopers in the left side forest. They move up. chimera opens fire on the daemon prince, no luck. Stormtroopers open fire hoping to drop, they cause a wound, he passes his invulnerable. Will it end? No, he rolls a 4 and we go to turn 6. 6th turn Chaos: His termies tear my chimera to pieces, his prince slaughters my stormtroopers who try in vein to wound the monstar. That's game folks. Thoughts? Suggestions on my list? Ideas? General comments would be awesome. templargdt
For taking down Plague Marines use GK Terminators. Seriously, give it a try! Tauren
Seems kinda odd to throw terminators into a unit of plague marines and start losing terminators to a powerfist. Auedawen
You'd only lose one or two a turn (he's got 2, maybe 3 attacks with that power fist, hitting on 4's, wounding on 2's, you save on 5's). But in retaliation you'd be taking down nearly his entire squad before he even gets to swing! S6 power weapons at Initiative 4 is absolutely devastating...to anything especially when said unit is supposed to be hard to kill (T5, FNP, and FNP is ignored by power weapons). Terminators, or even standard Grey Knights make a mess of Plague Marines in Close combat. The problem is getting there without taking a plethora of plasma gun shots. Tauren
Well that's the thing, my power weapons (6 from both a BC and Justicar) wiffed hard! I am still hitting on 3's wounding on 3's but for some reason I only ever got 1 or 2 of them with power weapons, he was making saves like a mad-man, took 8 wounds and saved all of them from my normal attacks. We are gonna bump it up to 1250pts next game, any thoughts on what to bring?
