Malus Trux
Hey there. This is a conversion article about creating a bigger Stalker pattern Bolter. Now when GW first gave this weapon rules it had a 24" range. With the 5th ed C:SM its been upped in range to 36". Cause of that I felt that any Telion conversions should have a heftier gun. Now that's been explained here we go. I originally had some pics of the process but after trying to recover my pictures I found they have been totally corrupted. So I've snagged some other pics but they're not exactly the same components of what I had. I'll note that at the end but for now: Converting a Stalker pattern Bolter, Heavy Barrel Ok you'll need 4 things: a bolter, a bolt pistol, a flamer, and the scope from the tac marines sprue. The ones I used were the skull bolter and bolt pistol from the Chaos Space Marines box. The flamer I used was from the previous edition cause it had a nice emblem & fit nicely when I placed it on my Scout Marine. Pictured here is the bolter from the Tactical Marines box & a Scout Marine bolt pistol. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Parts.jpg The flamer is the main part of the Stalker. It gives the feel of an extended barrel. Knock of the top the flamer (the little hook & circle) but keep the hook. Actually keep pretty much all the cut off pieces. There's uses for most of them. Anyways also cut the nozzle at the end of the barrels & the fuel canister. Don't cut all of the connecting canister as part of it will be used to extend the magazine. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step1.jpg Alright next the what ever the hell this thing is has to go. May be its a fuel pump. May be its the shoot here to explode mechanism but what ever it is it doesn't belong on a bolter so off it goes. Once its off you may want to file it down a bit. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step2.jpg With it gone its time for a slot to eject shells. You'll need a pin vice. If you have the pin vice from GW that's what you need otherwise use whatever size seems closest to a slide on a normal bolter. Anyways drill at these two points. If you can still see an outline of the explodie connection you can use it to frame your points. After drilling you've got two options. Drill some more holes until you connect the points or take sprue cutters & clip between the points. I did the latter. Anyways you should have a similar port as on other bolt weapons. Optionally take the hook you cut off at first & with a bit of clipping it works as a slide catch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step3.jpg Enough for now with the flamer. Now for the normal bolter. Cut off the barrel carefully and the portion forward of the clip. Just how forward depends on what emblem you have. The easiest I find is the skull. You can chose where to cut without risking the emblem & you can cut it right where the ribbed grip starts. If you have the one from the Chaos Marines like I did the skull will be on either side, which since it's sticking out so far people can actually see it. That's it for now. Remember to save the pieces. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step4.jpg Now the bolt pistol. The one here is from a scout marine, specificly the straight clip. I wanted a M21 feel but you can always use the banana clip on a regular bolter. Cut the clip & barrel off. Done for now. Easy no? Anyways back to the flamer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step5.jpg Now for the main assembly. Toss the forward section of the bolter onto where the nozzle used to be. At the end of that goes the barrel from the pistol. The clip from the pistol goes on the bottom & toss on the scope on top. There you have it. A fully assembled Stalker pattern Bolter with heavy barrel. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step6.jpg->http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step7.jpg This is good for any Death Watch Marines but if you're planning to use it in a Telion conversion I suggest carefully removing the sniper from a normal scout marine. With some size adjustments the stock can be left & should fit securely while the hand holding the shoulder grip can either be carved to loose the original or you can cut a section of the Stalker to coincide with a similar sized cut around the hand. Of course you could always just put in the hands of a bolter armed scout. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_on_Scout.jpg The remaining pieces can be used to make pistols. The bolter easily becomes a pistol provided you got the barrel off without problems. The other one can become a flame pistol representing a combi-flamer or an inferno pistol. For the inferno lop off the scope, clip the end of it & place it on the side. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/trex238/Stalker_Step8.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157168-modelling-converting-a-stalker-pattern-bolter-heavy-barrel/ Share on other sites
