DevilUknow
I couldn't find anything searching, but sorry if this is a repeat question. my CRAZY friend proposes that he can put a libby in a Rhino full of marines (will, 9 marines) and use Gate of Infinity to deep strike the tank within 24" based on the fact that a. it moves the libby and the squad he's attached to c. since the rhino is a dedicated transport, it is part of the squad <-- I'm almost totally sure this is wrong b. psychic powers can be used in transports is he CRAZY? Mal
A is correct B is wrong C is correct The transport (even dedicated) does not form a part of the unit. Mal
AoE (Area of effect) powers are measured from the tank hull, I am uncertain if he can pull them out of the tank.... thats a bit of a grey area.... Maligoare
Not as much as it would seem. The GoI power states that the Librarian can take members of his unit with him. The transport is not part of the unit, so does not get transported, and with 5th edition the Librarian is no longer considered off the table when in a transport so can use his powers while in one. Therefore, you can pull a squad out of its transport. DevilUknow
if the libby is moved by the transport, is that considered the end of his movement phase? Mal
No, but he is considered to have moved. However if he moved to the transport and boarded, then the transport moved, then it is. If he started the turn in the transport, he can exit after it moved and then move himself. SeattleDV8
Not quite , GoI uses the Deep Strike rules. No moving or assaults allowed . you can run or shoot. Mal
Just as a note, you can move after deepstriking, just not assault. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157226-deep-striking-a-rhino-with-goi/#findComment-1839225 Share on other sites
DevilUknow
so its my understanding that i could 1. move the rhino w/ libby and 9 marines 2. cast GoI and deep strike within 24" of their current location 3. run optional 4. cast The Quickening and assault with the libby if he's an epistolary never mind... Legatus
Too slow... Well, to not have a useless post: Just as a note, you can move after deepstriking, just not assault. Well, you can "run", but you cannot "move". Sounds kinda weird... Disembarking is also allowed... ThatWhichIsWhole
No, the libby doesn't transport the tank. He can deepstrike himself and his squad from inside the tank. The measurement is taken from the hull of the vehicle. This is done at the beginning of the movement phase, so there can be no moves of any sort before this happens. You cannot move in the movement phase after gating, because it uses the rules for deep striking, which say you can't. You can run or shoot after gating. You cannot assault after gating.
