Lord Eltor
Hi all, some people in german forums always recommend to use eithe two or three Grinders or none! What do you think? It is something about survivability that can not be explained by reason! Master Chaplain Astador
Well I usually run two, especially in bigger games. I have however had success with one. I just make mine as flexible as possible to achieve the maximum kills. Although again armies geared for anti-tank, they may have a harder time than a Daemon Prince or more troops. ==Me==
Being the only vehicle, Soul Grinders will attract lots of anti-tank fire, so it's usually best to have a couple or a trio so you'll still have some functional after the enemy does their shooting. Kairos
I've used one tons and he's only died twice (maybe because he's Nurgle aligned!), once to an Avatar (he was immobilised) and once to a half-range multi-melta. Bloody dreadnought... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157247-single-grinders-not-useful/#findComment-1839718 Share on other sites

Well in truth, alot of the same weapons that will be directed at a Soul Grinder are also going to be used to take out Daemon Princes or any kind of Greater Daemon. I think the most direct threat to the Soul Grinder, like all vehicles, is Melta weapons. The advantage that Daemons have is that few armies want to get into close range with any kind of Daemon and Melta really requires that. Running a squad of Bloodletters or Daemonettes next to your Soul Grinder would protect it from most fast moving Melta squads (think SM Attack Bikes) or atleast be able to bring vengence down upon the enemy squad if they're able to kill your Grinder. Captain Malachi
While anti-tank weapons are often used to kill princes and such like, the very fact that they are anti-tank weapons often causes an opponent to target the soulgrinder first. Vassakov
The reason is simple. Whereas one lascannon is barely going to tickle a DP/GD, it could kill a Grinder. Chances are low, but most opponents with a few AT guns in Troops choices (Tactical Squads) will take a few potshots at the Grinder, thus limiting it's effectiveness. Personal opinion but I'd be happy with that. If an entire Tac squad or two is wasting their fire on a Soul Grinder who is very likely to just shrug off the anti-tank shot instead of concentrating on the DP where their Bolters would not be wasted, then I say good. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157247-single-grinders-not-useful/#findComment-1840147 Share on other sites
theredcorsair
having three soul grinders on the table can put down punishing firepower and close combat prowess it is okay to field one because you it has back 11 and front and sides 13 which is proof of most close combat and heavy weapon attacks also who wouldnt want to field three!! Heck yeah! Especially if you are running a DP of Nurgle w/ iron hide so the bolter fire just bounces off of you...(Tough 6 vs str 4 = 6 to wound, with anything getting throuh subject to a 3+ arm save!)
