Iron Clad Commission

Recommended Posts

I just completed an Iron Clad I was commissioned to do. I figured I would toss it up here and see what everyone thought. I appreciate any comments or criticism. I would also appreciate any suggestions for improvement before I turn it over to its new home. I might make myself a couple of these as well considering that I have not heard much about a release date for the official model. I have just been drop podding my regular dreads as proxies.

Looks great, Im getting a very original visual vibe from it :D

The arms look a wee bit spindly, considering the dreadnought tyoe, so I'd add some armor plating to the arms (just enough to still keep the hydraulics visible tho) to bulk them up abit.

Otherwise a top notch job IMO

aren't the marines inside supposed to be protected and not exposed? anyway i've said this a lot, i think it needs to be buffed out.

I think thats supposed to be purely cosmetic, by the time the marine needs a dread scarcophogus (or how ever its spelt) they are in too many pieces (read: goo) to make use of regular armour.

I am glad to see so many positive and constructive comments here. I am going to have to dig through my bits box to see what I can do about bulking out or armoring the arms.

the hammer arm is a cut down sentinel leg right?

Indeed it is.

In my case the idea is that the dreadnought sarcophagus would be similar to those of medieval knights with a bas-relief of the fallen warrior in full armour on the lid.

That is exactly what I was going for. I figure a sarcophagus for a marine should be far more ornate than they are.

I had a very similar idea for the dreadnought - is the marine much broader than the original sarcophagus? How have you done it? Did you had to cut the whole dread body in half to fit the marine?

I did indeed have to cut the dreadnought in half to fit the space marine in there. In fact I even then had to cut down the should pads a bit to get him in just right.

This is actually the third "larger" dreadnought I have done.

This is the first and came out a bit bigger than the new owner of this dreadnought liked so this is shrunk a bit.
