primarch apparence

There is a lot of primarchs artwork (official one) in the HH collected visions.

But can we assume that the GW art is the "autentic" look of the primarchs ?

In other words, can we imagine the primarchs as being diferent from the HH artwork? (I'm specially talking about their faces).

Any opinions? I suppose we all tend to imagine por favorite primarchs differently.

Most Visions images have a certain 'Blanchesque' quality to them which clashes with the rules of normal anatomy (even taking the differences between Primarchs and 21st century humans into account). Take for example the illustration of Magnus in Collected Visions, who looks slightly grotesque. However, some of the other pictures (for example, 'Sanguinius, Bane of Daemons') look extremely cool and I could imagine that these Primarchs look like that.

I was specially thinking in the beardless Leman Russ (thats just against nature!!!). And the child face of Konrad Curze.

Jaghatai is actually the only one that I pictured as in the artwork.

something close to this.

They are indeed Blanchesque. And that's the important part. The drawings of John Blanche are way over-the-top but a story is in the details. these drawings are at the founding of the gothic style and darkness of the game's design. So even though there is sometimes too much detail, those details are symbolic for who and how the primarch is. At least, that's my opinion. ;)
Yeah I've got to say I always pictured Dorn being a little less flashy. And I always pictured Russ as looking a bit like Rab C Nesbitt, string vest and all.

In my opinion the images of Primarchs are much like the artwork we have of Christ now. Because even in our short history we do not have all the facts. So I think the artwork in 40K is just a cool image - and creatively folks do not have to use the artwork as fixed. Think of it as what happens as tales get spun into mythic proportions. People like Hercules, Achillies, Perseus... all have this Mythic quality - similar to the Primarchs in the 40K cannon. Inspiring...? Certainly. But fact...? Probably not.

In short. Model them in a way that you see them being. Your interpretation is just like the artwork. An image based off years of epic stories and tales of mythic proportions....
