The Azure Blades Apocalypse Project (Update January 20)

Now, this has been on the back of my mind ever since I finished my Land Raider Durandal... While certainly imposing, the Durandal wasn't exactly how I envisioned something with, erm, Structure Points. So, being bored out of my mind of reading my Post-Grad subjects' review materials, I decided to do some converting for a change (after what seemed to be months).

The monstrocity below, still weaponless as of this point, was the result. Personally, I think it looks like the Stretch Limo version of a Land Raider at this point, but hopefully that'll change a bit when I start adding the weapons and accessories to it. And yes, I kept the TL Lascannon 'turret' design from the Durandal.

I'm thinking of placing Hurricane Bolters on the sponsons already attached, then adding... wait for it... Typhoon Launchers in the sponson space behind it. And yes, I'm aiming to keep the transport capacity. Mmm... Two Structure Points won't be overkill methinks...

It's a British battle tank. :)

I have to say, inasmuch as I'd LIKE to mount the weapons as far front in the LR chassis as possible, it doesn't LOOK right when the LR frame is extended length-wise. Also, I the juvenile mistake of gluing the sponson attachment too early... *coughs* So when I get those Hurricane sponsons, they'll go into those sponson frames.

Anyway, I envisioned the troops inside to rush out through the front ramp anyway, so convept-wise, it'll still feel right to me...

Then make an Exterminus. Its damn awesome. Or, you can make your Exterminatus :D .... Dogma or I won't care....but I feel that it might be a bit too late for you to do that..unless you wish to start another.

Lots of factors going against it I'm afraid. With the start of my Post-Grad classes, I'm using up my free time for studies and schoolwork. Also, the lack of general resourches is another hit to any plans of making something that grand (located in the Philippines, doubly so, added on top of the Post-Grad expenses).

So, yeah, I'm sticking with this project. And yeah, I'll be perfectly fine with a 2 Structure Point vehicle at the end of this point. ;)

Update January 20:

Well, the Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer kit I ordered from GW US arrived on the dot, so I started work on sticking the parts I needed to the conversion, tentatively codenamed 'Cortana'. Here's the results so far for a night's work. Yeah, I am CLUMSY when it comes to Greenstuff.

And yes, that's a heavy bolter turrent at the rear, which I kind of conceptualize as a semi-point defense against aircraft, or enemies sly enough to try to sneak on the thing.

Shortsonfire79: Trying to preserve a 12-man transport capacity, I'm afraid, so no, no more guns on the other doors, and really, it'd mess up the firing arcs of the hurricane bolters and lascannon sponsons. And still on the fence for the rules for its Big Gun, so to speak. While it's tempting to actually USE the Volcano Cannon rules, I'm of a mind to turn it into a Lance Weapon instead. or something that fires a large blast template... Mmm...

Looks good but you have to do something about the GS work. These are Space Marines, not Nids or Orks were things can be slimy or sloppy.

Maybe sanding it down or, as Shorts, said covering it up, might help

Already did something about the GS situation, actually. The model itself is still waiting for its primer, but I'm undecided if I should do it old-style (black spraypaint before basecoating), or just give it a spray coat of dark blue (covering up the stuff that aren't supposed to be blue with tape) then give it a wash of watered-down black ink for shading the recesses.
