Pontus
Sign me up! Id love to get some insight into making molds. Making SM helmets and the like would save SO much time. I tried to talk to FW about maybe producing a 30k line of resin upgrades, but they werent all that interested (strange, since it would no doubt make them alot of money). I'm also surprised they haven't done it. So I decided to make my own. It's really not that difficult. rabblerouser
I used products by smooth-on The silicone molds are mold max 30, which is also suitable for lead casting. I had little luck with this method unfortunately because you have to keep the molds hot as your pour, otherwise the lead doesn't flow into all the crevices. I switched to smooth cast 300 which sets in about 10 minutes. If i was doing it again I would probably buy mold max 20 because it is a little less viscous and captures details a little better, and smooth cast 305 or 321 so i have a working time of 30 minutes. Justin Kase
Cool, and thanks for the tips on the Smooth-On products. Now, if Mold Max 20 is better, would that mean MM 10 is even beter for fine detail? rabblerouser
Well the trade off is that it's more prone to tearing, so not necessarily Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157369-mk2-crusade-gear/#findComment-1850613 Share on other sites
