Techmarine/MotF

well, trying to get back into my modelling mojo. So I thought I'd grab feedback on another one of my Old projects that I never got around to posting up, whilst throwing the ideas into the inspiration bucket for anyone to use if they want to.

So, I present Hephaestus; Forge Master to the Black Titans.

Heff here was made back in the previous edition of SM. It was a combination of wanting to see how a terminator looked with a servo harness, and a day with nothing to do but rummage through my bitz box. There's a lot more I could have done with him in retrospect, but I was happy with it at the time :P

To be honest, I'm not even sure it's legal.. I may have been blinded by ambition when I was looking at the equipment a HQ techy can take. I certainly know the assault cannon isn't legal. But it looked cool, so it stayed.

Some people have pointed out he doesn't have the flamer/plasma cutters for the servo harness. But if you carefully on the underside of the servo arms, you can see some small resin flamer from the FW servo skulls I had placed there specifically for that purpose.

I think he looks pretty dang spiffy like this. Yes; the AC is not legal, but it does look the part (I like the scope you added) :tu:

I especially love the thunderhammer though; I'm gonna have to steal that idea! Your GS work and general conversion is spot on; the way you attached the arms to the top of his armour insteadof the traditional back makes a huge difference and I like it lots, especially with the cable bundles hanging from the back now. The chest looks great, but maybe you could add a small cog/skull logo on there to make it a bit more busy?

I'm not too fond of the servoskull head though; a more traditional head would work better IMHO. Maybe one from the Iron Hands range?

All in all; an awsome piece of work; all you need to do is swap out his AC for something a bit more legal (can Techmarines still get TDA btw?) and get him painted! Now! ;)

++EDIT++ Friggin' heck; my 5000th post! Has it been that long already?

cheers for the response guys, It's getting me motivated again :)

As for the numerous comments on the AC, remember the Master of Forge and conversion beamer wasn't around at the time. I just thought some of you might find it good inspiration if you're using one in your army. ;)

Hmm...on the legal side I don't think even the Terminator Armour is legal anymore (because that works "I have access to the whole armoury and didn't pick the best armour i could" :D Damm rule changes )

On the modelling side IT IS BRILLIANT so I don't care what GW rules say. And quite frankly if you turned up against me in a game I would let you give him TDA just so you cold use him. It's got to be the best model I've seen in a long time. Could you post a component list so I could copy...I mean emulate you. (Don't worry, I'd add my own twist e.g I'd crap it up :) )

certainly, tutteman;

The base is a plastic terminator.

The head is a resin FW Servo skull, pretty easy to pin into place.

The CC arm is a normal terminator arm, the hand is from the space wolf iron priest, above the hand is a techmarine CC weapon with the back 'spanner' replaced with the hammer head of the iron hands conversion hammer.

The bionic leg is a space marine fore-arm, with a bit of banner pole (plastic rod would be better), a wheel plate.. thing, and some green.

The harness arms are made from the old techmarine single servo arm backpacks. The claw is cut off, and a servitor arm is pinned in it's place for the extra joint. do it twice.. and glue it onto an imperial guard comms backpack.

You can use the two techmarine backpacks you ordered to scavenge the mechadendrites for his 'cape', just cover the vents with a piece of .5 plasticard.

I think that's it, ask if there's anything else :P
