Dreadnought Conversion: Master of the Forge

Hi all,

A while back, I theorized with you about converting a dreadnought into a Master of the Forge. I came up with some rules using VDR and then began thinking about what could be done to represent a Master of the Forge inside a dreadnought and equipping him with the conversion beamer and clamps that could be used as a dreadnought CCW.

I'm proud to say that I've managed to come up with something! I used the following bits in order to create this hulk:

1 - Standard Dreadnought w/lascannon and close combat weapon

2 - Techmarine Shoulder Pads

1 - Belt from the razorback heavy bolter

Assorted bits such as wires from heavy flamers, and such...

Basically for the Conversion Beamer, I figured that the weapon should look somewhat more substantial in terms of size than the normal lascannon. I cut the twin-linked lascannon off the dreadnought arm, attached a more substantial barrel and then used the tip of a lascannon barrel. I then added some wires and the heavy bolter belt to give it a look that it used more power.

For the Techmarine's clamp on the servo harness, I merely cut up some chainswords, and glued them together, recessed some parts in them to make them blend into the CCW better and then glued them on. I then sanded the rest of the CCW down and added some wires to show connections via hydraulics. Simple, quick and easy. I added the heavy flamer to show a sort of welding tool. :cuss And it won't hurt in game terms either. lol

I trimmed some techmarine shoulder pads for the adeptus mechanicus logos and then glued them on each arm.

As for paint, you'll notice that the body of the dreadnought is painted in my traditional scheme for my army's vehicles, camo. There is a method to this madness; I left the arms unglued so if I chose to, I could attach an assault cannon and missile launcher if I wanted to use a regular dreadnought.

The arms were painted with mechrite red foundation to give it that nice techmarine redness that's so famous.

The rest was a simple use of highlights and boltgun metal for some wear and tear and voila, a Master of the Forge, living the dream as part of a machine.

I'd love to hear what you think.

Thanks

Much obliged with the suggestions and comments. Sadly, I lack a servo harness and a substantial bits box. This is clearly a work in progress as we can tell. The conversion beamer is such a difficult weapon because there are virtually no descriptions of it. I just decided to make a very sleek looking lascannon with some extra bits to make it more substantial. I clearly need to work on it more though.

Not that you will have the bits, but an interesting idea would be to have SoB penitent engine, but strap in a MotF instead of the martyr, then add assorted tools.

Sort of like the exoskeleton from Aliens.
