It's looking good, out of interest are you going to add to the army after the tournament?

It’s my plan to continue this army as the one corresponding to Codex:SM. I have the bits assembled for a squad of CC terminators that I really want to finish. That then begs the need for a Landraider for them to ride in style but other armies will begin to draw me away at that point.

 

So the short answer is, “yes,” but qualified by the, “not by much in the near term.”

OMG your BA's were an inspiration and so are these Luna Wolves. Fantastic work.

 

I particularly love the white armour you've done. Its has both that bright but "dirty" look to it at the same time.

Looks very good to me. I'm doing some custodes at the moment. I have a quick Q. What colour are the sons of horus. Is it a greeny grey?

From the painter himself:

 

I base coat them Vallejo dark blue grey

 

The first highlight is then 5:3 Dark Blue grey to white

 

The second is then 3:4 Dark blue grey to white

 

I then to an tiny extreme highlight on the most raised parts/angular parts with about 2:5 ratio.

Actually, no, that’s not a plastic combi-plas. Like the metal Master of the Ravenwing bike above, the grey primer is making it look that way. I actually got the same question from people concerning the jet bike. And, no, it’s not plastic either.

 

I do have quite a few years of bitz collecting among a group of great gamers who do the same. So finding torsos, heads & so forth isn’t that difficult in small numbers. As in, I wanted to use Mark V chest bits for the whole army but I didn’t have enough after the 10-man tac squad so the Sterguard got the plain chest piece with the small skull instead. I also wanted to use all berserker heads w/o the bunny ears for the helms but I only had enough for the Sergeants. Such compromises are all part of the challenge.

 

Other members of the team resorted to buying stuff from Battlewagon and so forth. That’s a little rich for my blood. Casting is a viable alternative and I’m certainly not against it: B&C’s policy on casting for personal use.

 

BTW: I should have the 10-man Scout squad finished TONIGHT. Some of the fastest speed painting I’ve every accomplished. I should have pics posted tomorrow.

man, where do you think I can get a bulk of those sternguard IW helmets?

I wish I knew. Their Iron Warrior heads which you can still get in a pack of conversion bitz but you only get 2 heads like this and all the other stuff. I actually bought these when you could still order individual bitz from GW (oh, how I whish those days would return).

 

I did a quick search at Battlewagon and didn’t find them. The source above may be the only one left. Which gives me exactly enough for my LW terminator squad and that’s it.

 

Maybe try eBay? You never know. -OMG

I am at least happy with how the camo turned out.

 

If I had more time I would have tried to do something to make them look pre-heresy but instead, they’re just scouts w/the LW scheme worked in. Oh well. If only there were infinite time, money & talent to invest in these models. With all my limitation there’s only so much I can do.

 

Like get everything done by the deadline – 9 days and counting.

First off, thanks for the comments.

 

Second off, the final presentation was given over last weekend and I posted the results in the Hall of Honour forum; which can be found here.

The Sternguard heads are from the Iron Warriors which I know you can at least still buy as a bits pack. If you can get your hands on any old IW boxed sets they’ll be there as well. You only get two of these per set so it’s hard to find them in bulk nowadays. Thankfully I acquired them while GW was still selling bits as separate parts.

 

So, this project is officially over. Time to direct my attention elsewhere. Have you heard the call?
