Belial The Executioner
I have recently discovered (after reading the codex properly ^_^ ) that i an able to put a combat sheild on an assault seargent I have also recently discovered i have allready used the combat sheild i own for my company Champion (currently a WIP), so i knuckeld down and created my own using a spare 28mm base and a bolt pistol arm. i also decided to modify the marines' helmet and power sword to fit a greek spartan type seargent and thus attempted to mould a plume, and sculpted a shorter, broadsword So here is the result... http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/DSCF0104.jpg http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/DSCF0102.jpg http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/DSCF0101.jpg Took a little while to think up and create, although its not the best i think i have completed it to a tabletop standard at least ;) What do you think? MEanBOb
That is a VERY large combat shield. To be honest, it looks like its in the storm shield family and belongs on a terminator. BUT if you are going for the greek look (which you are) its perfectly ok. I like the plume a lot as well. My only real gripe is that the sword is a bit fat and irregularly shaped. Mike the Zealous
Nice job on the DA assault marine! That is a good use of a spare base, im surprised more people havent thought of it :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157576-dark-angels-assault-vet-seargent/#findComment-1843867 Share on other sites
Belial The Executioner
MEanBOb, yes it is a very large combat shield lol but light also  I totally agree with the comment on the sword, it does look a bit silly. It was my first attempt at making my own sword. Perhaps one less wide and with a symetrical point? Mike the Zealous, thanks, it just sprung to mind as i was short of a combat shield, so i thought why the heck not? Emperor's Scourge
If you can spare the points you should just call it a Storm Shield. Combat shields aren't all that great imo. Belial The Executioner
I thought assault marine seargents could not take storm shields? sgtNACHO
yeah assault marine sarges can use them, they come in the squad box sprues ;) looks pretty sweet although i can't see and of the deatails on the torso :( Sword could be skinnier:( perhaps add something to the base to ramp up the coolness factor  overall just needs a few adjustments and better pics Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157576-dark-angels-assault-vet-seargent/#findComment-1844358 Share on other sites
Cedric
Interesting model! I've thought about adding plumes to my sarges as well, I hate the bare headed kind. Say, how did you paint that gold? Belial The Executioner
corpus, thanks mate sgtNACHO, i know it is an epic fail on the pic side of things, i use ardcoat to finish my models so i assume that doesnt help with pic detail either... I am attempting to make a 2nd sword, it wont be much skinnier as i was going for a wide look but the current one does look misshapen so due to helpfull advice i will take new pics after i have reworked it Cedric, I painted the gold straight on chaos black lol just added a couple of thin coats for even coverage so i can call it a storm shield? its just the C:DA doesnt say anything bout a storm sheild for an assault seargent only combat sheild. EDIT: added pics heres the new sword undercoated and with better pics :P the goss ardcoat still does not do it justice but the pis are clear currently working on basing with a combat kife through a chaos termie head will upload pics later today http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/Picture016.jpg http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/Picture017.jpg http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/Picture018.jpg http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/wiffinberg/Picture019.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/157576-dark-angels-assault-vet-seargent/#findComment-1844847 Share on other sites
