[BatRep] 3k Wolves vs Ulthwé

My army is here

My opponent had something along the lines of:

3x4 jet bikes(Shining spears?), 2x10orso Dire Avengers, 10 guardians with bright lance, Eldrad, Autarch with 5 Dark reapers, 6-10 wraith guard, 6-8 harlequins, 6 path finders and some wave serpents & some other tankish like thingie and two warwalkers...

The mission was annihilation and the setup was within 12" of our own table edge.

Setup:

I have substitued some flying bases and pretended that they are Land speeders.

The rest should be reasonably self explanatary:

1st turn (SW):

In conclusion, my Long Fangs and Predator did pretty much sweet F.A. which is unusual for them.

My Heavy Bolter Landspeeders proved quite effective, just a shame I forgot that they had *2* heavy bolters each. Grrrr...

Flamers were everything I had hoped for against Eldar (No need to roll to hit + low Toughness of the enemy = Win) and they took a terrible toll :-)

My whirlwind did very well and in my next game against the foul Eldar I'll bring 3 just to see how they'll handle that.

Other than one landraider going down a bit early and my Long Fangs and Predator doing nothing at all the whole game everything else went pretty much according to plan.

Oh yeah, and as per usual, I forgot that I had another unit hiding in some shrubbery until turn 3... Sigh...

Which was incidentally the turn where my friend gave up.

It definitely worked in my favour that my opponent kept his Harlequins and jet bikes in reserve.

It allowed me to pick his troops apart in a way I couldn't have done otherwise...

Well apart from having a hard time discerning what was going on in the pics it's not a bad report, but you could really do with a rough turn by turn breakdown. It's not that hard, I do it and don't even take notes just work from memory.

Yup, I was doing that at first, but then I realised I hadn't taken taken picture of every turn I was slightly uncertain as to what happened when exactly.

It's also sucky that I forgot my camera and had to use my phone... :-/

Ever since I read the Landspeeder entry in the new codex I've been itching to try a 2 HB Landspeeder... too bad you forgot because some in-game review of them would be valuable info...

Kudos on your victory!

Well, this evening I tried the HB/AC combo and it completely tore the tyranids apart.

I think 3 LS with HB/HB would be better then 2 Ls with HB/AC, but more testing is needed...

Thanks :-)

Agreed flamers are awesome against low toughness foes. Never underestimate the ability of your Long Fangs, although I only field them in larger games. My Long Fangs always deliver, they get the job done as do other heavies, I guess it's all about preference or balancing out your points. Anyway keep up the good work and have an ale on me :P

I just tried them and it was beautiful...

Two LS with 2xHB each just tore apart Eldar units that only had 4+ or worse saves...

Obviously I could only move 6" to do this, but as a semi-mobile fire platform they were great, and I will definitely use them again. And again. And again...
