Landspeeder tempest

Recommended Posts

Greetings brothers

As the 5th has rendered variants of speeders less effective (AC/HB), I was toying with the idea of getting a tempest. The combo of AC/TLML seems appealing.

Pro and cons I have so far are... Pros. Better weapon variants than a typhoon, improved front amour. looks cool.

Cons. Cost (points) 130 v 90 (HB/HF Typhoon, would need opponents permission as its a FW model.

I understand that fielding a Tempest would be dependent of the role it would fill, both tank and marine hunter, so as most of my games are v chaos undivided would a Tempest or Typhoon with MM or HB be more effective shot for shot.

Just wanted your views on this and if anyone uses one.

Thanks brothers

My buddy would often use them but it was in 4th, and he also had 9 other land speeders with AC/HB so there was more things to worry about and it was a lot faster.

In 5th for 130 points you could get a vindicator with points left over...

Pros: Better AV, more powerful weaponry, better against higher AV units, blocks LoS, goes through terrain without worry

Cons: Slower, not AS accurate, if main weapon blows, has much weaker weapon to fall back on

It depends on the rest of your list really, if you have the support to field the tempest and it works with your army better than a vindicator then I say go for it. Also remember Forgeworld isn't always allowed for some reason.

I've a tempest- while I've Model that was built to ressemble a Viper from BSG that has the weapons of a Tempest. You've got the points costs wrong and FW put out an update that makes them even better. Now they can be in Squadrons, deep stike, etc.

Just thought i'd pass on the info.
