MotherFuhrer's Soul Drinkers (Assault Sergeant Painted)

Hey there folks. I've decided that I'm going to make my Space Marine force the Soul Drinkers. If you don't know about them, the Soul Drinkers are misunderstood renegades who were deemed excommunicate traitoris by the Imperium. Despite this, The Soul Drinkers remain loyal to the Emperor, shunning the washed down bureaucratic Imperium. They currently have four books detailing the Soul Drinkers and their adventures, with a fifth one on the way. What I'm afraid of is that I won't be able to pull it off.

This is going to be the basic Marine colorscheme.

This might be silly, but I haven't read any of the Soul Drinker books yet. But do not fret, I know quite a bit about them already, and I've already purchased the Omnibus, which is on it's way to my house. Right now, I'm still setting up an army list, but I have a basic idea of what I want to do. I actually plan on converting a Sarpedon in the future, despite my lack of Green Stuff skills.

I'm going to paint up a test model for everyone to see. I'll post it as soon as I'm done.

I think that it would be awesome to see the soul drinkers take to the field. I agree Sarpedon must have his eight legs and just letting you know there are actually four books right now with a fifth on the way in march. they are Soul Drinker, Bleeding Chalice, Crimson Tears and lastly Chapter War, with Hellforged on the way......What i like the Soul Drinkers lol

Alright, I managed to work on my first test model. I had to use flash because it was looking blue when I took the picture without it. It's not perfect, but I just wanted to get the color scheme down. I used Liche Purple, and 1:1 Liche Purple to Skull White for the highlight. I'm going to be using Hormagaunt Purple for the highlight instead, so I just need to wait for that to come in the mail. I forgot to highlight the bone, but I'm most likely going to use Skull White as the highlight.

Oh.

My.

God.

I never want to assemble Assault Marines ever again. Just ugh. I hate them so much. Luckily, I finally finished assembling them. I bought a box of Assault Marines on an impulse buy at my local game store, and I think it was worth it, despite the difficulties. I tried to get some really nice poses going on in the squad, which I think I successfully did. The Sergeant came out nice, looking like he was landing from a jump. I did a few minor conversions on him, including putting a Plasma Pistol in his combat shield hand, and a beak helmet on his belt. I also put a special base for the Sergeant so that he could appear taller than the other Assault Marines. I'm going to prime them in a bit, and hopefully start painting by late tonight/tomorrow morning.

Here we've got the Sergeant.

Do you have a picture of the Chapter symbol? I free handed some and I'm not sold on them/my skills. I'd like to see how you did the symbol.

Keep up the good work. I really like the purple highlights.

Update!

I primed my Assault Squad, plus a huge amount of leftover Marines from when I was going to make a Salamanders army. I might as well have primed them all. Luckily, I didn't do any conversions on the Sally Marines, so they'll be fit for my Soul Drinkers. Expect an update tomorrow morning as I begin painting my Assault Marines.

an ex staffer at the northampton england used to field soul drinkers i dont think he lost a game with them

im orignaly from northampton before moving upto lincoln, and i think i remember that force, think i actually played against his force and my first space marine army got mullered. owand i like the soul drinkers aswell

MotherFuhrer the testmin looks awsome and i cant wait to see more of this thread, i will be following all of this thread.

Very nice. Very nice indeed!

You've got some great poses for your assault marines there - they really look like they are charging forward.

The test mini looks great. Just a minor point - don't forget to highlight the eyes. It might just be the photo, but you lose the red against that gorgeous pruple colour.

Other than that, great work.

P.S. If you are going to do Tellos, will it be before or after he loses his hands. I'd love to see one of him after he lost his hands.

Whoo! The things I ordered from GW arrived today. I got some extra Lich Purple and Bleached Bone, as well as a pot of Hormagaunt Purple for the highlights. The best part of it is that I got the Soul Drinkers Omnibus! I'm going to crack this bad boy open right now, and get to reading it. Not to say that I've been slacking. I've been paining some of my Assault Marine Sergeant, and he's looking pretty good.

Awesome looking test mini,

Just an idea for converting Telos, use a Chaos Spawn model, take the torso and some marine legs and combine them somehow. Add the spawn arms and remove the hands at the wrist and use some chainsword or power sword blades.

But it depends on if your going to convert or use them before they were declared renagade

I saw a conversion for Telos way back that I'm going to replicate. He's going to use a Khârn Berserker legs, a bare chest, Catachan head, and Catachan arms cut down.

For Sarpedon, I'm going to use Shelob for the LotR minis, with one of the generic Librarians.

Anyway, almost done with the Sergeant. I repositioned him on his base, and I'm giving him a little surprise. I'll be done within the day!
