Rhinos...and counter charge...

Do you guys think pods are still any good?

Any player worth his salt will just keep his army off the table when faced with a podding army. You have to drop half your pods down first turn then he moves on and shoots the snot out of you...

How do you counter this? Seems a big weakness with pods now to me :D

I like to use a combination of Drop Pods and Rhinos. I like to Drop Pod my WGBL & Retinue and my Ven Dread then use Rhinos for a squad of Grey Hunters and Blood Claws. The only thing I hate about Rhinos is that when you get out all of your guys are standing there together and vulnerable to templates, which really sucks. At least with the Drop Pod you can spread out. You can also block firing lanes and wall people in if you have enough Drop Pods. My son and I walled off a whole corner of the board on turn one in one game. It was really annoying for our opponent, esp. since it was like 6" from their objective... :)

Thanks,

Yeah, sorry but I think people defeated by the whole "I kept my army in reserve, nah nah na nah nah" thing may have just gotten confused to easily. After all nothing says you have to leave yourself open to attack. If my opponenent leaves his forces off the table entirely then I have a free turn of deciding how Id like to deploy.... no problems there. If he leaves part of it on the board then I have to consider is the kill worth the possible retaliation.... and closely check out the terrain.

Then they get to roll for reserves for a few turns, and I get to laugh when most of it doesnt show up until turn five. As for them walking in and shooting me to hell and back? Tanks moving in generally get one gun, maybe two, and heavy weapons via infantry are usually just plain SOL. My packs are all kitted out to be able to take on monstrous creatures, or run with a character who can so I dont fear the wraithlords charging in out of nowhere.

So whats so scary about an army that decides it doesnt even want to be on the table? Cowards :).
