Speaking of Large Horned Beasts...

The following paint jobs are FRONTLINE models, so its a rush paint job. Not trying to win any awards, just want the models paint and on the table fast! Min. Highlights and shadows...a kind throwback to 2nd edition. I am still torn about "dirtying" up the rhino.

I decided to go with a suedo marpat style paint job on the rhino...just to break up the standard colors. I cut paper tape into small squares and stick it over the black paint job. First time painting a tank!!

Thoughts?

Epic LotD there mate, now you just need to use them in a game in the dark. Heh, Night Fighting for real... :) Everything there's nice, it's got a no-nonsense look that I like. Simplicity is best sometimes, eh Lunchb0x?

Not the same as the one from Texas, the one that does lots of washes to pain his minis...nice fellow. Ive had this Nick/SN for years...Though the odd bit I was born in Texas...weird huh?

Sorry, got a tendency to capitalize the first letter of names. Forgot about the Texan LB. I guess I'll have to remember to use lower case when referring to you.

;)

As nifty as the glow in the dark paint is I just don't see the why.

Also the digital camo is not a bad idea, but needs several more colors and more coverage to look good IMO. The Grey Hunter looks pretty good though.

Why not do glow in the dark paint?

I thought of going with further colors, but then it really kinda pulled more away from the SPACE WOLFYness of the tank...and lot of details would end up being lost in it.

Why not do glow in the dark paint?

Because when do you play in the Dark? I have yet to play in a store where even turning off the lights would make it dark enough to see the glow.

Yes it would get away from the wolfiness, but then again digital camo doesn't work with just one color on a blank background.

Neither have I , but I dont think anyone else has done it, so why not do it!! Plus when you have about million cans of glow in the dark spray paint laying around...might as well put them to use!!!

I said it was suedo marpat...so not really it, just taking cues from it...hell I could also say its ww2 german style paint scheme or something it would still work !! LOLOLOL

:) ;) :)

Marines never camo anything, period. You did a good job with the paint itself but it just doesn't work for SM. Go with guard if you want camo tanks.

I was thinking that as well...but I just wanted something different then the all grey paint...but not like in the new SM codex...half grey half blue...:cuss?

wait...dont scouts use camo?

actually, some marines use camo and such.

its actually chapters like the imperial fists that refuse to wear camo, which i frankly thing is silly.

wolf lord kieran

What chapters use camo? Ive never seen this before...links?

and imperial fists...they are bright yellow...what kinda camo can you have when you are bright yellow????? :) ;) :) A brighter shade of yellow maybe?

i based my opinion on the 4th edition SM codex, which trait system described a chapter not using stealth or infiltrate due to pride....and on reviewing that section i am dead wrong.

oops, my bad.

other thsn scouts, i cannot remember any marines using camo.

raven guard are already mostly black, so i guess they dont need anymore.

wolf lord kieran

The only occasion of a Chapter apparently using camo was the Raptors who changed their scheme to olive green when trapped on the death world Jemedal, and have now supposedly returned to their origional colors of yellow and blue. However that's the only occasion I can think of.

Thats what I like about Space Wolves... its all up to the Wolf Lord.

"Hey, slap some other colors on that rhino so it will blend in."

"But, Wolf Lord Bob, Space Marines dont use camo."

"The hell you say! We are hunters, not prey, and by Russ you will put that paint on that rhino before I bury this boot so far up your hind parts you will be coughing shoe-laces!"

I like the Rhino (paint scheme and all!) My first Wolves used forest camo (but that WAS the rogue trader days)

The paint looks great for table top.

The glowing paint on the LotD is interesting. Makes them almost look "ghost like" when you play. Plus they would be really easy to find if you lost one.

Better days,
