1000 point Tournament List

I have a 1000 point tournament coming up and I usually don't play with such low numbers so I am looking for some suggestions.

This is what I came up with first, my only fear is that it is kind of low in numbers, and there is only 2 troop choices.

HQ: WGBL - 154

Terminator armor, Frost Blade, Belt of Russ, Combi-plasma, Wolf tooth Necklace, Wolf Pelt, Runic Charm

HQ: Venerable Dreadnought - 165

Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer

Troops: Grey Hunters -290

10 - 2 with Plasma Pistol/CCW, 2 with Power Weapon/CC, 1 with meltagun, 5 with Bolter/CCW

Wolf Guard - Power Fist, Storm Shield, Wolf Pelt, Wolf-tooth necklace

Troops: Blood Claws - 263

12 - 3 Power Fists

Wolf Guard - Power Fist/Bolt Pistol, Wolf Pelt, Wolf-tooth necklace

Heavy: Vindicator - 125

Siege Shield

Well that venerable dreadnaught should have extra armor for five points its more than worth it.

Your wolf Gaurd Leader for the Bloodclaws.... 59pts. Belt of Russ..... 25pts. Drop them both. That leaves you with a net 74pts after the EA. That would cover the cost of say a Razorback with TLLC if you so chose, or a rhino and say three bloodclaws?

You could also drop the other Wolf Gaurd in favor of a second small grey hunter pack.

What if I swap the WGBL for a Wolf Priest and remove the Pack leader from the Blood Claws (leading them with the Priest). That gives me about 50 points to mess with. Maybe a Drop Pod for the Ven? Using Drop Pod Assault, that may be useful. I am used to playing 2000 points and using a lot more stuff. ;)

I am expecting to see some Daemon Nurgle Armies and/or C:SM Nurgle-based armies. These guys be as beardy as they can and I just want to be competitive.

HQ: Wolf Priest - 128

Combi-plasma, Wolf tooth Necklace, Wolf Pelt, Runic Charm

HQ: Venerable Dreadnought - 170

Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer, Extra Armor

Thanks,

If hes going to be in with the Bloodclaws switch it to a combi-melta. That way he can bust open transports that they can then assault. That gives you 22pts to work with. Dropping the WG leader gives you another 59, so 81pts total. Your list was at 997pts. If you have the model lying around Id drop a bolter from the Grey Hunters and give yourself a Whirlwind. Its really helpful against hordes.

Another idea would be to grab a pair of attack bikes. Add some mobility and medium firepower to your list. You could also try an agressive landspeeder.
