[LPC] 'counts as' Lysander for Crimson fists

Well, since I need a severe kick up the posterior regions to get some movement going, I thought I would put something in for the LPC.

Unfortunately for the state of my army, it is the one thing on the force organisation chart I dont need any more of - An HQ choice. However he can be a sergeant in my Assault Terminator squad when I feel like it too, so its not all bad.

A little back history - Before the new C:SM book came out, and before I had found out that a Pedro Kantor Figure was in the works, I had decided to do an up to date version of him. So, a highly detailed figure, imposing, and Ideally with a lot of 'Fist' iconography would be required. Using the captain Cortez figure was tempting, but would have required some chopping about and (IMO) its too nice to mangle like that - so that left only the Lysander figure. I got hold of one and grafted on the terminator captain's right arm, and the RT terminator captain from the Boxset's left arm.

here he is.

Then the new codex came out and the New figure for Pedbot - so this guy became my Second Company Captain - Captain Velasquez. (CF first company captain is always the chapter master) BUT the remaining issue was that Lysander is now a must have - especially when you attach him to a 10 man Sternguard squad and combine his bolter drill with Pedro making sternguard scoring units.

So, rooting around in my spares box I found the body off an old First issue Assault Terminator - Chunky extra plates on the armour, beefy boots and loads of cool details. Combining this with the arms I still had lying around from Lysander, and the stormshield from the 'Masters of the chapter' boxset and we are getting there.

I had cut the head off Lysander's hammer to use on my Chapter Champion in Pedro's honour guard, so put a long pin in the hammer, sleeved it with (of all things) a piece of the straw from a can of WD40 and fitted the head of the hammer I had replaced on the masters of the chapter model I had converted into my honour guard.

We are left with this:

He is only lightly tacked together at the moment, so I will get his arms off and his shield off his left arm again tonight and see about stripping the body properly. It came amongst a job lot of bits so needs a proper clean before we get started (out with the GF's nail polish remover again ;) - you should have heard her shout when she found a metal backpack off an old beaky with a multimelta I was stripping in her bottle of polish remover ^_^ I was wondering where it had got to)

I have some 'Fists' icons too, so may try and graft one onto the shoulderpad if I am feeling brave.

What do you think fellas?

More work last night, I had a spare one of Pedro Kantor's back banner laying around, so I chopped the 'fist' off the top of it and mounted it to the top of the Terminator armour's carapace, then made a place to mount the banner itself behind it. I also machined off the name 'Kantor' embossed on the scroll at the top of the banner.

I grafted an imperial fist icon onto the right hand shoulder pad and added some purity seals to it as well. I have been trying to work out a way of putting a cloak of some kind on him too, so will be digging about in my bits box tonight to see what I can conjure up.

Pics to follow.

A quick snap of the stuff as it stands tonight. Off to a mates house then out for some beers tonight so not much work will get done, but I will be pillaging his bits box for cloak ideas and other assorted tat to bling the big fella up with further.

There is another pin sticking out of the top of the armour about 2.5 - 3 mm behind the gauntlet for the banner. I have built a little plinth for it to sit on so its stands straight, but will be fitting the banner after everything is painted.

someone likes to hear themselves post :)

Well, its motivational for me. I am the worlds worst for not actually doing much. :D

As a WIP, if theres progress - I post.

and there's progress. Decided to use the banner from the 'veterans 1' box instead of pedro's - since I already have the fist from the top of pedro's and a fist icon on the shoulderpad. Finished the work and gave it a light coating of black undercoat tonight. Here he is tacked together in what will be his final pose.

Sorry the second pic is a little poor, but you get the idea. :)

I would welcome any opinions.

Did the blue areas today. Took some time blending the colour in on the armour plates, and it came out fairly well.

finished the Shield too, here it is.

Once again, I'd welcome your comments and critiques.

Finished the Mini today. Not quite as happy with it as I was with the Helbrecht I did the other week, but its OK. I never seem to get a good finish on second hand minis which have had to be stripped.

Here we are.

What do you guys think?

DAYAM! He looks like he's right in the thick of close quarters fighting. A bit like in 300 when the persians are pressed up against their shields. Sooo cool.

One thing though - It does look like the red needs a little more tonal depth. Fine though as it is :P
