Battle sister squad template

Continuing from the rhino template thread, what is the standard battlew sister squad layout?

I generally do the following:

1 VSS w/ combi melta, and various upgrades

1 sister w/ melta

1 sister w/ heavy flamer

7 sisters w/ bolters

1 rhino w/ smoke

Am I running my squad in a good way? How do you run your squads? What upgrades should my VSS have?

What works for me is:

squad of ten;

VSS with BoHF and Combi-flamer or Bolter and power weapon (Cheap version) (And upgrades)

Heavy Flamer

Melta

Rhino with smokes

squad of 15 - 20;

VSS with Combi-melta or Stormbolter and power weapon (And upgrades)

2xMelta or

2xStormbolter

And during appoc I throw in the banner-barers (can't remember their names) for fun.

Coming from a different angle to everyone else I run (literally) footslogging sisters as I'm not a fan of the rhino.

In my current 1500pt list I've got 4 squads of 14 sisters, 2 squads with meltas, 2 with flamer & hvy flamer. The vet is geared up with a BoSL and an eviscerator.

My reasoning for the sizing is I rely heavily on DG in the first rapid fire round of shooting at anything 3+ save or better. 14 sisters means I'll pretty much make the roll when I need it.

Although I do specialise I run the squads melta and flamer side by side so whatever the threat one unit can step forward to take their shots depending on the threat.

For better or worse. All four of my sister squads are the exact same:

7 Sisters with Bolters

1 Sister with a flamer

1 Sister with a meltagun

1 VSS sister with the book and a bolter

1 Rhino W/ EA&SL

Has worked very well for me.

This is the same build use, except that I take a heavy flamer instead. Runs at 209pts.

I would recommend staying away from the Combi-Melta for sure. I also disagree that Bolt Pistol and Brazier are the better loadout. I would take a Combi-Flamer for the same price and mostly the same setup with the minor difference that you should be double tapping and never in assault. You lose one shot with a Bolt Pistol and you are geared for an encounter that you will likely not survive (in most cases) if you take the Brazier.

I believe that Battle Sister Squads are the best units in our FoC, and I actually splurge a little on them.

I do:

Vet, Book, Combi-Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Flamer 2/3 squads or Meltagun 1/3 squads. They always ride in a Rhino with Smoke Launchers and sometimes Extra Armor if I got spare points. If I am tight on points, I sacrifice my Books of St Lucius (Heresy, I know), mainly because I find them useful only in assault which is a situation I avoid as much as possible and this scenario usually only comes up in low points games where assault is easy to avoid any ways.

I'd agree with everything but the last statement. BoSL are essential and will mean the difference between holding ground and being forced to run. For 5 pts there really isn't a better piece of wargear and I'd rather sacrifice a meltagun than have to run without a couple of books.

The other thing I'd advise caution on is believing that assaults are easy to avoid. The nature of sisters firepower means that when you maximise the best resource they've got, rapid firing bolters, you're going to be in the face of your enemy. If you don't do the damage you need to do in the firing stage (which can happen now and again) then you're going to have to face an assault and often the best way to come out of it is being able to pass Ld for a few turns.
