Shortsonfire79
You are Cornholio? Your people, in Nicaragua need TP! For cleaning that GS, try getting a box cutter, lying it parallel to the plastic, and smoothing it off. Its what I did on my LRE, and its a LOT easier than sanding...because GS isn't the greatest sandable object. jay79
There you go. Much better. If you try and re-align the cockpit and add more tubes and block the under-side it'll be looking good in no time. Keep going! sgtNACHO
Looks cool... lol I like it, I think if you could find some way of opening the bomb-bay doors and putting some model airplane bombs in it that would be insane. You know just grab some of those model airplane bombs off of some F-18's and B-22's and such, paint them in boltgun silver and putting the caution stripes on them would make them look so cool and Mariney (which I don't think is a word :) Also you should make some landing gear/ pads. So not only can you put it on the table without it tipping, you can also increase your coolness factor. Also if your a perfectionist you could magnetize the landing gear and the wheel/pad wells and then make the gear movable, so not only can you impress your friends with your perfectionist style, but when you push in the landing gear you can make a little "eeeky whooosh click" noise ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158105-scratch-built-super-heavy-flyer/page/2/#findComment-1852606 Share on other sites
GeoKrush
Obviously I agree with the bomb bay direction... but in thinking about it I also think the model would benefit from giving at least one of the sets of wings a tilt. I think it would add a bit more depth to the model and also make it so the lascannons weren't grazing the front wings. Put some piston tubing connecting the hull to the wings would also give the sense that the wings were adjustable to counter space and atmospheric conditions. Angron
Plastic? Greenstuff? As a reminder, i had really really limited supplies. Cedar wood, cardboard for the tube and hot glue. I tried adjusting the front today and nearly shattered the whole cabin. Meaning that its stable and sturdy enough for table use but trying to fiddle now that its dry could mean a large pile of what used to be flyer. I'm stuck working 12ish hour days so this project is on hold for a bit barring an actual day off. Oh the joys of Cooking Professionally. (Edit: Less shiny mean-ness i hope. Bed now. 3 hours sleep. Another 17 in a kitchen After) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158105-scratch-built-super-heavy-flyer/page/2/#findComment-1853208 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
That kinda sounded like a burst of hatredy goodness. But thats okay, because it wasn't directed at me, because I have yet to give you my input. =-D For the wings. Use a your RAMBO knife, and score the hot glue, (probably the front wings, it'll look cooler) and just score it, over and over, top and bottom, then after you think its good enough, snap them off. Use your knife to shave off the glue, and clean up the cut. I think that moving the front wings down about 10 degrees on each side will solve the "shoot the front wings" idea, and will look pretty cool. And I think that if you add another two front wings, and make them 10 degrees up from the original, (Like an X) would look even cooler...not really SMish, but it'd be snazzy. Use that "For Sale" sign that I told you about, and place it over the hot glued areas. It will clean up the glue marks, and it will look like extra armor plates or something. If you could possibly get a couple more rhino front plates, you could move that one in the center (yeah, rip it off...it'll be a challenge) and put 2-3 side to side, it'll look more full sized...Just a couple of ideas.. Brother Captain Andrecus
I think we're kindof hijacking his conversion here... In any case, work/school is always more important than hobbying. Don't let us rush you into spending all your spare time converting this thing instead of sleeping or whatever. That might cause you to accidentally cut off your own thumb with a craft knife... And loss of thumbs is bad... (I'm one to talk. I should be sleeping right now... Or at least doing my Chemistry homework...) So take it easy, but do be sure to update whenever you can! (Also, what kinds of food do you professionally prepare? Sorry, I'm kinda hungry right now...) Angron
Free time?! Hobbies?! Oh yes they DO exist. Sorry for the extended absence, all that work led to sickness and well, I'm back now. The bomb bay idea I tried, and well, it looked really silly. Barring any sudden inspiration and/or bitz the project is likely to stay as it is for now. I have a space marine army somewhere that deserves some attention. Look for the thread here in PCA likely under the hall of honor section. I'd like also to thank everyone that pitched in with ideas, advice and critisisms. I have a whole year to finalize the flyer so I may re-open this thread once again keep an eye open. NemFX
I'm temped to try and make one.. Maybe you could use the empty canisters that superglue comes in to make turbine thrusters?
