jsutter
I have heard some say that the Honour Guard is lacking the Apothecary and therefore does not have the benefit of FnP. But, because FnP cannot work against wounds taken from AP 1 or 2, or power weapons, I do not see many times that having FnP would benefit the Honour Guard or any other marine wearing Artificer Armour. The only real benifit I see is from wounds caused by the marines' own plasma weapons, which Honour Guard do not have access to. It looks to me like FnP will remove, on average, half of the unsaved wounds taken by marines wearing power armor, but artificer armor, on average, will save half as many wounds. It looks like a wash to me. So, is an Apothecary the poor marines Artificer Armour? Mathhammer experts, show me my errors. Captain Malachi
Well, this isn't a rules question, so it'll get moved soon enough, but FnP would still be a huge bonus, as it would still save half on the unsaved wounds they take, just 'cos they're wearing arty armour that doesn't negate FnP in any way. Oldenhaller
yup, as FnP is rolled in addition to armour saves it's not really comprable ~O Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158140-artificer-armour-vs-fnp/#findComment-1850804 Share on other sites
Legatus
But we are comparing command squads (3+ with FnP) with honour guard (+),are we not? Statistically, a 2+ save will result in just as many casualties (1 in 6) as 3+ and FnP will (1 in 6), except for AP3 wounds, where the command squad would only have their 4+ save (3 in 6 casualties) and the honour guard would still have 2+. So, 2+ is better than 3+ and FnP. 2+ and FnP would be better still, obviously. jsutter
Thanks Legatus. That is how it worked in my mind. I am mostly a modeler to a gamer, so I thought there was something I was missing. I have both modeled and play them for fluff reasons (my win loss record is appalling) rather than competitive game play. I think having someone impressed with a new conversion is just as, if not more, satisfying than a win. Frosty the Pyro
indeed, however you then get into the fact that the apothacary give FnP to any IC that joins the squad, allowing you to create the obscene captain+3 techmarines+chaplain all on bikes super assult squad of doom. also there is the fact that 115 gives you 5 models of command squad, and only 3 models of honor guard Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158140-artificer-armour-vs-fnp/#findComment-1851468 Share on other sites
