RandomGuy Posted January 21, 2009 Share Posted January 21, 2009 So it has come to this, my painting has become so diabolical and my projects so many that I need a self imposed way of making myself paint power amour. I have owned my DIY chapter, the Sons of Thagg, for nearly a year now and I feel as if I need to put paint to models finally. There is a tournament in march to encourage me as well. Still this is what you can expect to see coming your way (when I work out how to take pictures...) 30 Tactical Marines 6 Terminators 2 Dreadnoughts 9th company (10 devastator squads plus rhinos) 10 Assault Marines 10 Scouts And anything else that has found it's way into my chapter... Anyway whilst I work out how to take pictures and upload them to the board here's my color scheme. RandomGuy Posted January 21, 2009 Author Share Posted January 21, 2009 The exhausts were supposed to be orange, or at least they were on the screen, not sure what happened there. The orange boltgun does look nice but I have already started painting them all silver now. And if anyone knows how annoying mecharius solar orange is then they'll know how why i don't want to paint anymore of my models in it. Anyone who has any tips for making this foundation look good then please enlighten me... There also was a devastator symbol on the left pad, where that has gone as well I don't know. But anyway the Blue trim is there because we are 9th company. There will be some vets with white trim and some tacticals with purple trim for 7th etc though. I decided that when I started collecting that I wouldn't hop on the battle company wagon but I'd get the much neglected devastator reserve company. Then they went and changed the rules... I'm going to get some stuff painted for tonight, does anyone know how i upload pictures to here. I'm sure there's an article somewhere and you have all been bored stiff with lazy people like me asking questions, but please? I like it. :D You shouldn't be having any trouble with foundation paints... they go on really heavy and in one coat. Sometimes you don't need to water them down or if you do, just a little bit. Uploading pictures: Up at the top you'll see where it says "My Albums - My Controls - View new Posts" etc. Click on "My Albums" Now click on "New Album" Give your Album a name Give your Album a description Check the box to make it public Click on create album Now that your album is created you can upload pictures so: Click on "bulk upload" if you have more than one photo to upload. I find this is easier even if I have just one photo to upload anyway. Now you have 4 fields and a browse button. Browse to your photos on your harddrive and click open. When you're done, click on "post multiple files" at the bottom. You're all done. :P If you want to imbed a photo in your post then you would click on that photo in your album and then copy the image link. Come back to the thread and paste it but put [ img ] at the beginning of the link and [ /img ] at the end of it. Without the spaces. RandomGuy Posted January 21, 2009 Author Share Posted January 21, 2009 Well a day of painting has gone well. I have finished 8 models! This must be said is good for me. Still I think I need something to display the scale of my painting issues... But here is some painted stuff. A land raider and 6 terminators to fill it. I know that I really should have done either 5 or 10, but I got one free with WD and feel obliged to paint it as well... I think they are nearly finished. Although please don't expect any Golden Daemon entries to come out of here. I also managed to get this dread to the stage where I'm happy with it, I almost view this as the test model for the new color scheme, even though it's a bit big. I didn't really know whether to drybrush it like i would infantry or edge highlight like i do with tanks. So I did a bit of both. I'll let you decide if it works... Anyway I think tomorrows target is to try to make that pile of rhinos go down... Or maybe just make them all black... Oh and a special mention to jay79. jay79 Posted January 21, 2009 Share Posted January 21, 2009 Wow you made progress fast. Looking good. And you're welcome, no biggy. You need more back-light in the room. Turn on all the lights and use a spot light if you can directly on the mini you want to photograph. I used to have a light-box, but now I just place a mini on a paperplate with a lot of light in the room and snap the shot. Works pretty well. I like the scheme. The orange isn't something you see all the time. Keep up the good work.
