Maligoare
I was busy making Sternguard, and realised I would need a combi-flamer at some point. I'm not too fond of the usual method of having most of a flamer stuck on for a single shot (unlike the Plasma and Melta versions, oddly enough), so after a couple of minutes work, I came up with this: Step 1 - Find a spare SM flamer and bolter of your choice. I decided on a BT one, but it only really changes the symbol on the fuel canister. Cut the fuel canister and igniter assembly away carefully, so you end up with these bits: http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/82/combiflamertut1ok9.jpghttp://img206.imageshack.us/img206/4199/combiflamertut2ek4.jpg Step 2 - Trim the igniter assembly to fit the underside of the bolter and glue it in place. Dry fitting is recommended here. http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/4259/combiflamertut3kx8.jpg Step 3 - Cut the fuel canister in half (carefully! I forget how many times I nearly took a chunk out of my thumb here), or file it down to give a half cylinder. Step 4 - Shave off the detailing (eagle, skull, whatever) on the side of the bolter, then attach the fuel canister there. http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/8220/combiflamerjy8.jpg Voila, one combi-flamer! Rogue Trooper
Nice, I personally like having the flamer nozzle but this is a great looking alternative. Pretty much works as WYSIWIG as well. Shortsonfire79
I too like the flamer nozel. But this looks cool! though..it is kind of a waste of Flamer material..just using the pilot lite..and the can... Maligoare
Not to worry, the rest can easily be used in other conversions - it really encourages you to think creatively! A couple of the things I have seen on here lately using flamer parts are a Stalker Pattern Boltgun and a Manreaper for Mortarion (I think), so the bits need not be wasted! Dusktiger
i've seen a very similar version used in the examples GW has on how to detail personalized black templars. there's one with some fluff about how he's a veteran of fighting 'nids in sewers, and the modder had dont the same thing for his sgt. only i think he used that lil canister thingy on the Black Templar accessory sprue. you know the one; the lil canister that looks vaguely like a urn thingy they use in churches. Tyrannicide
I also like the additional flamer nozzle, but it's not bad at all. Good job. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158250-modelling-alternate-combi-flamer/#findComment-1855971 Share on other sites

Sigismund Himself
Hey Maligoare, can we put this into the Librarium? Full credit will be given, as normal. popfenton
I really like this as most combi-flamer conversions look very clunky to me. I'm also really like this for anyone planning on having their model holding this w/ one hand, I think it would just fit better. Drac0
One of the staff members at games workshop had that conversion on his Black templars, but it wasn't meant to be a combi-weapon though, it was to represent some special Bolters BT's had used on a piece of fluff. Still very creative man, and nice tutorial.
