Full-choke
I decided I was going to scratch build a Valdor Tank Hunter. Yes, I know Forge World hasn't released them yet, and yes I know the rules are unofficial. However, I just couldn't resist it any longer. I felt the tank just screamed Ad Mech. Mine is definitely NOT a copy of the Forge World model, but I think it is turning out pretty dern good. I need to add some wires and hoses (think guitar strings if I can swing past the music store on the way home tonight) and a little bit of green stuff yet. It should be ready for paint by the end of the weekend, but I think I am going to hold off on that for a while. Few too many other projects that need to be finished first. Anyways, here she is: Comments, Questions, Critiques all welcome. Have fun and happy gaming! Brother Caedrius
That's coming along nicely, what have you used as the base model? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158261-scratch-building-a-valdor/#findComment-1852271 Share on other sites
Full-choke
I use the old WWI British MkV Hermaphrodite Tank in 1/35th scale. It comes from Emhar, the only place I have found state side that carries them regularly is Sprue Bros. Models. They can be found here: Sprue Bros. I have always had really good luck ordering through them, always in stock and fast shipping. I have 3 of the models, not too bad to put together really. I built that one from the sprue up to the present state in about 3 hours last night. I have one other that I have converted to a Malcador, and the 3rd is going to be another Malcador when I get around to it. I think it will be nice to have a Malc unit on the board protecting a Tank Hunter. Brother Caedrius
Ah yeah, I can see the old WWI tank style now! It's a great model, the side weapon sponsoons are very Pre-Heresy style! The used cotton reel is a really nice touch! Just had a look at that link, there's some great models on there, the Emhar range Male and Female MKIV British tanks would also compliment your heavy armour brigade! Full-choke
Yea, but then I would start to feel bad...I have 3 Baneblade Variants, 3 Malcador Variants, 1 Warhound (with 1 more on the way), 3 Land Raider Variants and a Knight Titan running as a count-as Leman Russ. I'm starting to see waaayyyyy too much armour in my army, lol. Although, I could always use the excuse that it is the Ad Mech after all... :P F-C Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158261-scratch-building-a-valdor/#findComment-1852352 Share on other sites
Brother Caedrius
I wouldn't worry about fielding so much heavy armour - it'll look mighty imposing lumbering over the field! My friend plays Apoc with about 40 heavily converted Panzer tanks of differing variants, with a load of IG troops to act as cannon fodder!
