Mantle of Ophelia

Recommended Posts

I run to canoness per game in my army.

Cannoness – w/ evicerator, inferno pistol, cloak of St. Aspira, Mantle of Ophelia,

jump pack.

Canoness, - w/ evicerator, inferno pistol, cloak of St. Aspira,

jump pack

The first one has mantle of ophelia, I put this on it so she could run into what ever tanks and not worry about getting insta killed. I have yet to have actually use this. DOes anyone else use this and is it worth it?

Also since you all are looking at my canoness builds what do you think of it? (and no I do not run these with seraphim, that is why there are no books. these are purely tank hunters  )

My feelings on the Mantle are that they are worth it. You will run several games with them equipped and never have them used, but the second you take it off is when you get instant deathed and wish you had it. I would advise dropping the Inferno Pistols off of the two Canonii if those loadouts are what you constantly play. They have tank busting power in the Eviscerator already, that is 30 points you can save on a gun.

I am a Living Saint user myself, I only use a Canoness in games less than 1500 points or over 2000. In games less than 1500, I always field the Blessed Weapon and Inferno Pistol Canoness with JP for my only HQ choice. She will jump around with Seraphim and usually H&R isnt a necessity at that low, so she wont usually need to break away. On occasion I will have her do a solo risky Deep Strike (1" distance from enemy) in against heavier mech armies so that I can get a decent chance at popping a tank. In games over 2000 points, I take the Eviscerator and Bolt Pistol build with JP as a secondary HQ and Martyr. She jumps solo the entire game and targets specific things while the Living Saint jumps with Seraphim. Between 1500 and 2000, I only use the Saint.

I run two canonesses. I give the mantle to the Blessed weapon/ inferno pistol canoness... perhaps it would be better on my evicorator/pistol canny but I stick to my own personal fluff and give my main lady all the goodies. It's very important when she plays the role of counter assault and charges a CC carnifex or something. usually if you are running a jump pack canoness, she will most likely be running solo to give your seraphim H&R so having her die to some lucky lascannon shot really sucks.

I'll second the dropping of the infernos if you can. I don't run infernos with eviscorators but I will with the blessed weapon. Pricey, yes, but it works well with my tactics for a canoness that has a decent chance to do some damage on I4 instead of I1.
