My WIP Grey Knight Chaplain

Here is a pic of my WIP Grey Knight Chaplain. I was inspired by the GK novel Grey Knight. First i planed to make him with a pair of LCs but cause there´re no rule for GK Chaplains i will use him as a normal GKT.

while I despise the thought of a Grey Knight Chaplain I must admit if it did exist he'd look like that. You've done the idea justice. Now about the paint, whats your plan?

In the novel the Chaplain was discript like any other GK with the exception of one arm which was colored in black as a symbol of his office. I think i will do the same. Now i´ll need to find the passage cause i wanna know which arm it was.

I like the model and crozius, but i disagree about the head. Chaplains have skull helments, and that particular one just doesn't read as skull for me. Its also a CSM helmet, so i feel it just sends the wrong message. Such a big part of a chaplain is the skull helm, so i don't understand why you'd want to pass that up in favor of a commonly seen csm helmet?
I like the mini, although like Drudge said, I'm not 100% certain about that skull helm. I know the character you're talking about, and I think you could have gotten away with lightning claws if you'd wanted to. I was going to do the same thing. I've even got a Grey Knight sitting upstairs right now with a reaper auto cannon and nemesis sword (obviously not a valid loadout for a GK but I thought it would look cool as a Knight from the infancy of the chapter) I think that the gun metal armour with black arm would look really good, and look forward to seeing more ;)

Never a rule without exceptions. In fact, in the Black Templar codex, the chaplain entry is depicted with a very much normal helmet. (but with studs on the "forehead")

However, they shouldn't have "basic" helmets either.

And as for the two helmets. I'd go for the first one.

The 2nd is a bit too large in my opinion.

I'm going to throw my tuppence worth in and say that either helmet would be useable. I can see both sides to the 'helmet argument' as yes the first helmet does compliment the curves better, but i've seen the second helmet used on numerous chaplain conversions, mainly on the old GW website admittedly!

Anyways it's your model go with whatever one you like best :(
