First off congrats on a rather nice looking first marine. Bad news is now you have to do more of them.

Sorry couldn't resist.

The only critisism I have is that the white is a little uneaven. Its a really hard coulour to paint but dont get discouraged as your scheme looks great.

The scroll though, thats a tough one. Since he's your first why not give him a name?

Disciple

thanks, yeah i dont really know how to do white my tau and orks never used white, i've never done space marines and only know chaos fluff so i have no idea what to call him.

does anyone know i good way to paint white? also that shoulderpad without a sword was just paint with a watered down coat so it doesnt look to great.

First off... WHY IS EVERYONE'S BUT MY FIRST MARINE LOOK AWESOME

ok yelling aside your first marine is like 100 times better then my first. But here's a trick for white.

Undercoat the model black

Then a base coat of Adeptus Battle Grey

then a slight coat of fortress grey

then finally white.

hope that helps.

thanks for the comments guys. hopefully your white recipe will come out better than mine on my next marine.

yeah that conversion was fun using the missile launcher and the dark angels mace arms to make that.

i might post up some more work soon.

i got a bunch of space marine parts from various bits boxes and now have another marine so i should have an update on painting on monday this is the guy currently but he is primed.

sorry about blurry photo........... this isnt exactly mine but its my friends and they basically look the same except he gs a robe on it later.

Thats good for a first marine. And I like the scheme. With white it can be really tempting to slap it on thickly to get it, which is obviously a bad idea. So make sure you follow that white recipe ^^ and thin the paint down, so you're not doing several layers of thick paint.

All righty :teehee: build confidence by going through your very first marine! (coz like dark disciple sez: now you gotta do more of 'em, respect to our IG allies and other horde players )

Seems next would be to hook yourself up to some of those new Citadel washes, or the famous magic wash

So how do you plan on basing 'em?

Start out with Shadow Grey before you start painting pure White. Really helps getting a good coverage.

The blue Bolter seems a little out of place. I think the blue is a bit too blue.

I think it would look better if you made the blue a bit more gray/black.
