Starbucks 3rd Company Dark Angels

First off. I'm sorry for the poor quality of my pics, they are all taken with my camera phone, and I am too lazy/donno how to touch them up in photoshop :P

So I finally got enough "stuff" stuck together to start intresting taking pics. 40 PA mk7 legs + for mk7 torsos without mold lines isn't very exciting so I'll spare you them.

So anyway I am doing a mk7/8 army which means all capped legs and all winged chests. The exception to this will be my HQ and veteran units will be using older style looking armour. I am doing this for 2 reasons, one I've always wanted to do a all mk7/8 army and two its a good way to make my special units standout more and look more unique.

First up is my WIP Belial. The Deathwing pads I ordered from Forge World still aren't here after 2 weeks so lets hope they hurry up. The good news tho is that I found somewhere they sells individual bits from forge world kits so I was about to get the power sword and storm bolter from Captain Culin

And all together:

Now the First finished marines of my Dark Angels 3rd Company edition 3 - this is the third time I've done 3rd co DA. This is the Sargent of the first tactical squad.

The Banner

Whenever I do squads I always do the sargent first. I do this as It gives me a theme and a style for the rest of the squad that I can then use. This gives me squads with a consistent look to the poses etc...

Tomorrow I finish my dev sargent and start on my LPC :HQ:

It's good that you have the patience to take the time to prepare your models before painting. The results should be way much better once you do begin to paint.

Thanks. Just had a bloody annoying set back. I was about to drill into the sword arm and my little .5mm drill bit snapped ;) ;)

Donno what I'm gonna do now cause I got it as part of a 20pc set

Been painting a test mini for my Dark Angels and I have been playing blending/feathering and lighting. The lighting angle is towards the front of model so the front side is lighter than the rear. So far I've gone:

DA green

50/50 badab/thraka - 1:1 with water

2-3 Very thin coats of DA green

2-4 Very thin coats of 50/50 DA green and Scorpian(more coats on front aside)

1-2 Very thincoats on the front side of the model in Scorpian green

Needless to say I think its gonna alright, I like the effect but it could be smoother. However the armour looks fairly light and lacks that out and out sombreness that the Dark Angels have.

SO; I'm looking for some ideas on how to tone it down a bit and give it that dark richness we all associate with Dark Angels. Any idea? I've tried to take some pics of it but its not come out very well(I've been using my Samsung Tocco phone as its the only camera I have)
