nagash4life
Hail all. Here is my finished Wolf Lord. This is my first time doing snow bases and I was very happy with how it turned out. Critiques and criticisms welcomed. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/nagash4life/FinishedWolfLord.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158420-finished-wolf-lord/ Share on other sites
Dark Bjoern
Looks good. Is this a stormshield on his sword arm? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158420-finished-wolf-lord/#findComment-1854727 Share on other sites
Grimmwulf
Pretty cool pose. I would suggest that you paint the base white or in a very bright grey before you put the snow on it. The snow itself looks really good, how did you make it? If you have greenstuff, it looks pretty cool (and is pretty easy) to just make a pelt hanging from that banner pole. nagash4life
@Dark Bjoern-- Yes that is one of the older storm shields. I plan on using him as a company champion as well in some of the tournaments that don't allow me to use the space wolf codex so I needed it to be just enough WYSIWYG that it could be either a storm or combat shield. @Grimmwulf-- I agree with you on painting the base first. I originally did a group just on the black base, and last night I did a group with grey painted bases and they did come out brighter. The snow is made from GW snow flock mixed w/elmers white glue and some water until it was a paste. First time trying this technique and I was very pleased with the results, even the wife was able to tell that it was snow lol. I'd love to be able to green stuff a pelt on the banner, but I am not very good with it yet. I've practiced, and it just doesn't turn out well. Thanks for the comments :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158420-finished-wolf-lord/#findComment-1855145 Share on other sites
G. A. K.
Pelts are easier to do than you think. If you have any of the GW tools, I just use the pointy poker after I get the shape I want (also let it start to dry up so it hold its shape). The more you poke at an angle and drag (only slightly) down the more it looks like fur, just remember to wet your tools so they don't stick to the stuff as it is hardening. Experiment on a little spare stuff and you my be surprised by the results. I was the first time I tried it. Vash113
Bah expensive GW tools? Absolutely unnecessary. Wolf pelts are easy and here's how. First take a piece of green stuff, wet your fingers and pull/kneed the GS out into the shape you want for the banner and hang it on the banner, then walk away for a couple hours. When the first layer of GS is completely dry take more GS and cover the back of the banner with it. Then take any old knife, dip it in water and make small downward cuts into the GS to create the fur. Anyway as for the model I'm not a fan of the mixed wargear, a good old Frost Blade & Bolt Pistol combo works well enough. Grey Mage
I wish I had a bold pistol :P. Yeah, Im not sure about the weapon loadout, but he looks pretty enough. Alot of my WGPL's are the same basic mini. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158420-finished-wolf-lord/#findComment-1856972 Share on other sites
