azironlegion
Well in my never ending quest at having a "painted" army in as little time as possible i decided to try my "just wash it" technique on marines. Being unhappy with my progress on my salamanders i figured why the hell not try something new. ive seen it done before with the sepia wash (on B&C i believe) and my nids are washed with sepia but i wanted something a little darker, and something that wouldnt look the same as my gribblies. So in a fit of ADD i primed up 5 AoBR marines and set to it and heres the result. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk148/flatlineaz/uber%20project/marinesquadtest3.jpg Considering it a success i finished the job by doing up the rest of the tac squad the same way http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk148/flatlineaz/uber%20project/Alphasquad1.jpg and then set to the dreadnaught (which is still WIP) http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk148/flatlineaz/uber%20project/dreadwip1.jpg They were primed white, washed with devlan mud and then details like the shoulderpads, pouches, seals, eyes, guns etc were picked out individually. Sure the basing needs done but its getting there. What do you guys think? Brother Captain Andrecus
Those are actually pretty cool. I like the color, and the shoulder pad insets contrast nicely with the rest of the armor. Any chance of a close-up shot? Lestat
Not bad, not bad at all! The wash gives a nice dirty look to the armour - as if they've been on the battlefield for a long time. Might have to "borrow" that idea  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158838-sand-jackals-diy-marines/#findComment-1860456 Share on other sites
jay79
Excellent results. I like that color scheme. Very simple and quick to paint and get on the table-top. This is the approach I've taken with my Guardians. Very minimal number of colors and then wash with badab black. Works wonders. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158838-sand-jackals-diy-marines/#findComment-1860550 Share on other sites
Dark Disciple
Very nice, I like. I may have to experiment with washes. Your going to have one very nice army when your done. Out of curiosity how do you paln to base them? Disciple Edit: The gods have forsaken me and my spelling! Drudge Dreadnought
Simple and elegant is something i always respect, especially if you just want a good looking army to put down on the table. I obsess over every detail, and so my army is a few units that look really good and the rest that are just primered. So i respect anyone who can just get something done. FOE
That is a cool name. With their general color and 'Desert Jackel' name, I would keep the base sandy and brown. Very nice job. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158838-sand-jackals-diy-marines/#findComment-1860761 Share on other sites
Brother Captain Andrecus
Yah, I would keep it sandy. It's even easier than a grassy base... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158838-sand-jackals-diy-marines/#findComment-1860772 Share on other sites

Cedric
Nice washing! I had pretty much the same idea (but with red shoulderpads) for a Dune inspired desert chapter. Imagine Fremen as SM recruits... Since you are in the process of "just washing it", have a look at this phenomenal tutorial. It's a nice way to make a coloured metallic effect using washes. I settled for that method myself, instead of the desert scheme.
