terminators

Recommended Posts

FAQs are house rules now - from the house that wrote the rules, but GW is very clear that they do not intend for the FAQs to be "official" in any sense. To me, it makes sense to use the current base size with the current rules, given the inherent advantages AND disadvantages of them that were considered, we hope, in the most recent rules updates. BUT there are statements inthe BRB that "supplied" bases are to be used.

In many cases, the evolution of the supplied base (or addition/subtraction of one) makes for a wide variety of "correct" bases. technically, a plastic SM or older (hybrid metal/plastic) scout bike can be on or off a base (a 2-slot cavelry base was included at times), a metal one is off, an attack bike is off, new plastic scout bikes are on new bike bases. presumably, we will see the existing range of bikes start to come with the new bases so you could, potentially, have a legal force of bikes with 2 different bases and some with no bases. makes for some wierd looking armies, and odd rules. but it is RAW.

Basically, they threw in the towel, and we are left to deal with this amongst ourselves.

if you buy a new box set of terminators, and it comes with 40mm and 25mm bases, then look around, the box shows 40mm, there website shows 40mm and everyone has based them on 40mm, so its obvious which ones to use.

if you brought old metal/plastic ones that come with 25mm bases, then I would understand someone using them, but since you can buy 40mm bases in large numbers VERY cheaply there really is no excuse not to use 40mm bases with them like all other terminators.

if your using the 25mm bases with the newer terminators (which would be dumb since they don't fit properly) for no other reason than gaining an advantage in a game of toy soldiers, then your a sad individual.

in the end use the ones they came with, but use some common sense and logic as well if they come with different sizes, its appreciated by everyone, no matter how rare common sense may actually be

Indeed, and the smaller bases are for the teleport homer thingy rather than the termies themselves.
