eyescrossed
Okay, I'm here to discuss what the best configuration for each marked chaos lord, and the unmarked one. Let's just assume they're in termie armour. Undivided: Easily Combi-bolter and Daemon Weapon in my opinion. Nurgle: I know, I know, you'll probably kill me for saying this, but with the survivability, I'd say a Combi-bolter and Power Fist. Khorne: Just the simple P. Weapon/Combi-bolter option, or Combi-bolter and a Lightning Claw, since with the MoK, you're getting the same amount of LC attacks as a differently marked lord with 2 LC's. Tzeentch: Deathscreamer. Slaanesh: Easily a pair of Lightning Claws - 5 Str4 I6 Power Weapon attacks with rerolls to wound on the charge? Yes please! Your thoughts? minigun762
For Terminator Armor only? Undivided = Daemon Weapon and Combi-Melta/Plasma Nurgle = Daemon Weapon and Combi-Melta/Plasma Slaanesh = Daemon Weapon and Combi-Melta/Plasma Khorne = Twin Lightning Claws Tzeentch = Daemon Weapon Its my belief that, with the exception of Khorne, if you're not taking the Daemon Weapon, you're wasting the Chaos Lord and would be better served with something else. Besides with TDA, you will never get the +1 attack for 2 weapons (other than Twin Claws) so the 2 handed nature of Daemon Weapons isn't an issue. eyescrossed
Daemon weapons are a bit risky, though. And costly. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158959-which-best-configuration/#findComment-1862352 Share on other sites
minigun762
Daemon weapons are a bit risky, though. And costly. True, but its a risk vs reward kinda of deal. a 17% chance of fail vs an 83% chance of doing significant damage. For me, thats ok. Of course the 30/70 split of a Bloodfeeder isn't ok so I go with the Twin Claws. To give you perspective, a Sorcerer or Daemon Prince has an 8% chance of failing their psychic test for Warptime or whatever else and a 6% chance of getting hit with a Peril of the Warp test. Better than a Daemon Weapon, but still present. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158959-which-best-configuration/#findComment-1862364 Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
Nurgle: I know, I know, you'll probably kill me for saying this, but with the survivability, I'd say a Combi-bolter and Power Fist. Nope. The things that kill lords are instant death dealers like powerfists, dreads, and heavy weapons. Or low ap weapons like plasma. None of these options care about the toughness 5. They will all still wound on 2's. The toughness 5 just helps a bit vs small arms, but those arn't what really kill you. ICs should never use a powerfist because it wastes their extra initiative and means that they do not have a chance of killing the enemy powerfist or thunderhammer before it instant deaths them. Khorne: Just the simple P. Weapon/Combi-bolter option, or Combi-bolter and a Lightning Claw, since with the MoK, you're getting the same amount of LC attacks as a differently marked lord with 2 LC's. You are getting the same number of attacks, but why not take the pair of claws and get yet another? Its a close combat hero, it should be optimized for close combat. The combi bolter gives you 2 shots before you charge, but this isn't as good as another re-rollable power weapon attack, especially since you will/should spend more time in CC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/158959-which-best-configuration/#findComment-1862378 Share on other sites
JamesI
A lord can take a pair of claws and a combi-weapon. I liked Deathscreamer/Combi-melta for a Tzeentch Lord. That melta shot helped with dreads and the like.
