As always, C and C are welcome.

Cheers.

(And before anyone asks, he will be the commander of a 1000pts force, and might get demoted depending on how well he does).

I like the arm exactly where it is; it gives him a sense of motion. He now looks like he's whipping to his right, to get a quick shot off.

Had the left arm been bent, his pose would have been much more static, so kudos to you for getting him dynamically posed. ;)

Now get some dark blue and lightningbolts on him. Pronto!

I like the idea of the left arm lending motion to the model, don't get me wrong. Static models get old really fast. When I first saw the model, I imagined that he had just severed an opponent's head, but it looks so incredibly stiff that it is painful to me. Perhaps this model would be better suited to a shooting pose, the axe is held more loosely at his left side, while he's popping off shots to his right?

I agree with most of the above, the model is brilliant but his left arm is a bit off. I would cut the wrist and repositin the hand so that it is in the same plane but with the haft of the axe more parallel to his fore arm. The visual weight may also be improved if his hand is closer to the axe head.

Al

And as an afterthought, i'm not overly keen on the skulls skewered on his horns. That's just my opinion though, the head is perfect but the skulls are slightly "comic-book" compared to the rest of the model.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, there I was yesterday, in my local store, when I noticed a sign advertising a new map based campaign in store. Taking a closer look, its a 20 player campaign, starting in the first week of April until August. Seeing that there were just 2 places left and about 13 of the places taken were Space Marine armies (how many Kantors?), I decided to sign up with my Night Lords (even if I just have 3 built). So I have 7 weeks to paint a 750pts army in time for the start of the campaign.

Anyway, long story short, this first part of the blog will cover the starter force, then once the campaign gets started, I'll add points every month depending on how well I do. (As the campaign is map based, new territory gained by the end of each month will grant bonuses or points)

Well, enough talk, time for the minis

Lord - He unfortunately had an accident involved a roommate and steel toed boots :D . The much debated axe was destroyed, so I trimmed the arm away and replaced it with the power sword from Chaos Champion sprue.

Good thing I hadn't primed him yet.

Meltagun squad - Champion

Background for him will be....he's done a Yarrick....enough said :P . I just have to get a little bit of Greenstuff to fill in the claw and the blades.

Raptor Champion

This was a sort of experiment to see if I could Chaosify the jump-packs without going mad cutting up plasticard. Dunno if it worked. I'll have a look through my bits box later for some more stuff.

Very impressive. Very.

Glad to see you used the Ork Power Claw on a Power Armoured model after all :P

And it's unfortunate about the Power Axe, I think it was cool :D

Can't wait to see your progress. You've set a pretty high slope to climb - 750 points in 7 weeks? Good luck, mate :HS:

Edit: As an afterthought, do you have your 750 points list sorted? Could do as one of my "Signature Army Lists"! That is, the collection of army lists of those who inspire me. Owen Rees is in there with the Dark Angels/Deathwing Doubles featured in Standard Bearer last year, and I'd be honoured to have yours in there too :HQ:

If you don't mind, that is. :)

Wow, I am honoured, and I won't mind at all.

I have the list sorted, small force, all in Rhinos.

HQ

Chaos Lord

- Power Weapon - 105pts

Elites

5 Chosen Chaos Space Marines

- Aspiring Champion, Power Weapon - 115pts

Chaos Rhino - 35pts

Troops

10 Chaos Space Marines

- 2 Meltaguns, Champion, Powerfist - 210pts

Chaos Rhino - 35pts

10 Chaos Space Marines

- 2 Plasmaguns, Champion, Power Weapon - 210pts

Chaos Rhino -35pts

Army Total - 745pts

Pretty basic list, but then again, but then again, there wasn't too much in the way of points to spend.

Well, time to get started on building the squads. Going to try and get some ForgeWorld doors for the Rhino.

Thanks so much, mate

Edit: Now that I've calmed down, (however little), I've already proxied the Rhinos, and the Squads - bar the Chosen Champion and Lord...

Can't wait to try out the list in play :P

Well, what have I done over the last couple of days?

Short answer........

Not a lot unfortunately.

Anyway, after speaking with the store staff member running the campaign, the map used will be the map of Vogen which was in the Cityfight codex some years ago. So instead of having to complete objectives each month, its the number of victory points won from each section of city determines how many requistion points and army points you get for each new phase.

For those who are confused as to how the campaign works, I'll try to explain what I know;

1 - Runs from April until the end of August. Each Player will be given territory in various parts of the map.

2 - Battles are played during the first 2 weeks of the month, the following 2 weeks are for building reinforcements.

3 - Each section of the city grants Requistion Points, much like Dawn of War, however RP will lit you perform actions, e.g. moving your force to another section costs one point, attacking costs another point and using special abilites (like artillery emplacements or the shuttle of the landing port) will cost 5-10 points, or use those points to reinforce your HQ or any part of your territory.

4 - RP can also be use to "hire" special characters for a single game. Thats the only way you can include special characters in an army.

5 - A player can only be knocked out of the campaign by destroying their HQ, which will be almost impossible to do in the early stages.

Anyway, part of the rules calls for at least one Special Character. I'm not a big fan of special characters, mainly because I like to let my own characters develop their own histories. But seeming as we have to have one, I decided to convert one, more specifically Huron Blackheart (or Jarek Bloodhand in this case).

The conversion is finished, if I hadn't had done it now, I would have forgotten it. My camera is charging, so I'll take some photos tomorrow.

Later folks.

Sorry folks, there won't be any updates until Mid-April, my arm is in a cast. I foolishly agreed to help a friend move house and ended up with a box of junk being thrown onto my arm.

Sorry if you were looking forward to seeing me getting massacred in the campaign, but I can barely lift my arm, let alone build an army.

On the plus side, the nice doctor give me a shot in the arm, so I can barely feel a thing.
