odin
Hello all, Just a quick "counts as" question from me- I am planning on converting 2 Daemon Princes with wings and before I go to the trouble I wanted to see if I could get away with this rules wise in an offical GW tournament. I would use the base and stand from a landspeeder and mount a sorceror model on top (using the Dark Angels biker legs to give a flying effect, plus the backpack and head from a Thousand Sons sorcerer). I also plan to model wound counters on the base (using the skull markers from the offical set). Fluff wise this would represent two sorcerors who have gained significant powers from the warp. So the model would be very tall and have a large base, but it would be the size of a standard marine- is this enough to count it as a monstrous creature Daemon Prince with wings? Would you be happy playing against this in a tournament? Would you see it as cheating at all given that the actual model would be quite small? Would be interested to hear your opinions on this. Thanks Odin PS- I copied the idea of using the DA biker legs from someone else on the forum- can't remember who it was but whoever you are thanks- it's a very cool idea! Morticon
IM usually really up for counts as. Unfortunately- the base itsnt the problem- the area this guy will cover in terms of LOS is nowhere near what the DP would. I wouldnt be happy to say do it. odin
ok thanks Morticon, guess I will have to save those boys for standard sorceror models. Praeger
To me they would look like jump-pack sorcerers. However with a bit of work (and a quick note before the game) you can make it workable. You could do something like one of the following so that the model takes up aprx the same amount of space as a demon prince model: 1 - VERY big weapons 2 - wings 3 - whirlwind effect surrounding the models (iv seen this and it looks great - but you do need to be a good modeler 4 - dead bodies circling the model 5 - trees on the base that are the correct height and width of a demon prince I dont know if any of those ideas will help you or not - but they would make it a bit more "fair" in that they would fill up the same space as a DP Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159239-counts-as-daemon-prince-with-wings/#findComment-1867157 Share on other sites
odin
Thanks Praeger, some very interesting idea's there. What about- 1. I am particularly liking your idea of trees. GW make a set of trees- http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1095513 Would 2 small trees and 1 large tree be enough? If not how many would I need? 2. Another idea I had would be to mount the flying sorcerer on top of something. At first I thought of a dreadnought but what about a juggernaut? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1400000 Fluffwise the sorcerer has summoned the daemon to fight for him in the battle. Is a juggernaut large enough to represent a Daemon prince? 3. Finally something which would fit in nicely with the theme I had in mind would be to use columns from the arcane ruins. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...otCatGameStyle= Perhaps the large monolith, plus one full size column and a couple of small ones?? I am guessing that in all of the above cases I would have to explain to my opponent before the game that the entire base counts for LOS purposes. Again if you think any of this would be pushing the rules please let me know. nighthawks
anything that makes the model roughly the size of a daemon prince should suffice. - it all depends on how you model it as to how many trees, etc.. you will need to accomplish this. I personally liek the warp energies idea - or somethign magical like that. I think the juggernaut would be odd given a counts as winged model. but that part is not "rules" per se. you may want to pop into the modeling section General PCA Questions and ask around, many good modelers hang out there.
