Sons of Pus: When Space Wolves Go Bad

Hi all,

The first army I started playing 40k with were Space Wolves. As a way to taunt me one of my buddies started calling them "The sons of pus" (he named his army the Sin Eaters, so you can imagine what I called them). So after awhile I decided it was time to start a Chaos army.

I needed a break from power armor armies and painted a Tau than Eldar army, so after about four years I broke out the Chaos stuff and started the real "Sons of Pus".

I put a list together based on what if some members of the thirteenth great company succumbed to the lure of Papa Nurgle. I started with the lone surving Iron Priest, who contracted the Obliterator virus.

here is the next unit (seven models). They were originally plaguebearers, but after the release of codex chaos space yawn they have been downgraded to lesser summoned demons.

I gave them wolfish heads and axes (like proper space wolves should).

the only thing left is to add a water effect. I am currently testing different methods to achieve a murky, slightly green, slime like effect that will just cover the skulls on the base while hopefully still being able to see them.

any comments, ideas, critiques are encouraged.

thanks and take care

edit for posting pics issues, mainly I am idiot

I think you should have kept your wolves in the fridge or something 'cause that looks nasty.. in a good way.

love the use of wolves heads, and the painting looks good from what I can see (I'm on a 8" screen, so the pic's are a little bit small), but keep up the good work.

Hi all,

Thanks for the comments.

here are pics of the latest marines to be painted.

I have given up on a water effect for the bases. after twenty or so test bases and zero acceptable results it is time to move on.

I could use some ideas/ suggestions regarding the pustules. The fleshy-ish growths are overpowering and I would like the pustules to stand out a bit more without dominating the model.

thanks

awesome !!really sweet

have you tried pva with a bit of green ink mixed in for the " murky, slightly green, slime" ?

D'oh!!! Ugh, well this is why I ask for assistance. I had forgotten that method. I had been using Woodland scenics water effects (the thicker version) without success. time for a few more test bases.

Thanks for the idea and compliment.

take care

sweet as , no worries .im not trying to jack your thread but here is what my bases turned out like using that method

all that is is pva with a bit of green ink mixed in , then another layer of ink ontop . just make sure the pva is well dried , the ink seems to soften it up a bit

Hi all,

I have finished a couple more marines. The icon of nurgle/ squad banner and the champion (only three more to go :P )

Barry, I tried your method, however for this army I can't make it work. I like the look of the slime it is just to green and opaque for what I was tryign to achieve. thanks and please send ideas my way :D
