From the Shadows

Travian crept forward silently, making almost no noise as he slipped towards the objective. The readout superimposed upon his vision told him only 800m to go. The rest of his squad crept up silently behind him, scanning the area for any traps or deadfall the inhabitants have left to suprise them. Travian suddenly darted behind a fallen tree, spotting an enemy patrol in the clearing ahead, just starting to make camp. They were lightly armed, with only small light sidearms and combat knives. Still, enough to even bring him down if done well. He shook his head to try and purge the thought from his mind.

'Travian here. Enemy patrol sighted. Lightly armed, no more than ten. Clear to engage?' He voxed, hoping for a go. They had been fighting on the planet for three weeks now and this mission could not allow any survivors to reinforce the objective.

'Travian, this is High command. You have a go,' came the reply.

'Understood. Travian out'

Turning to his squad, he started to issue commands.

'Aegos, Pathon, you stay here and get ready to move in on my signal. Laox, Rictus, flank down both sides and prepare to do the same.'

'Affirmative sergeant,' said Pathon

'Good now move out'

Travian rose slightly, moving with complete stealth to the other side of the clearing. He slowly drew his knife, catching the light from the fire as he did so on the blade. Suddenly the fire went out. Fearing he had been spotted, he moved his hand slowly towards his holster. Fortunately he hadn't, the men were preparing for sleep, crawling into their tents and leaving a five on guard. He breathed a sigh of relief.

'One for each of us,' voxed Aegos.

'Lucky them,' replied Lax.

'Stop chatting like some old women and take them now!'retorted Travian.

Travian slunk slowly forwards, coming up behind the guard. He spotted the rest of his squad in position near each of the other sentries.

'Takedown Delta,' commanded Travian

As one, squad lept up behind their respected victims, clamping a armoured hand over their jaw, crushing it and bringing their knives through the mens throats.

'Target down,' came the gruff voice of Rictus.

'Too Easy,' said Aegos.

'Now for the rest,' said Travian.

They crept into the tents, spotting the sleeping men inside. Travian lent down, snapping two of the mens spines. Another set of sickening snaps came from the tent next to him. Suddenly one man awoke, trying to scramble out of the tent. Travian caught him by the neck, almost choking him.

'Who...who are you?' the terrified man asked.

'Your Doom'

Hope you liked it. It is based on my first PH Alpha squad and is my first story ever. C and C appreciated.

Though the one thing I didn't like was the stealthy. Too much stealth these days, Face them Head on. Be World Eaters. And to quote a famous Leethal,

Kinda defeats the point of the Alpha Legion ;)

I liked it, my only qualm is that Sergeants in the Alpha Legion were taught to think for themselves, so I doubt he would refer to high command to take out a small patrol. Keep it up.

NEW CHAPTER!!!

Travian crept steadily forwards, his squad behind him. The forest was dense enough to hide even a Rhino tank. He stopped suddenly and rolled behind a large tree as a searchlight beam swept over his position. The objective. A power station on a hidden geothermal vent. Unfortunately for them, it was guarded by a hastily constructed watchtower. He signalled his squad to move around and get in position. They nodded affirmatives and moved out. He and Lax stayed behind while the others swept around to cover escapes.

They levelled their bolters, spying their respective targets through the scopes. He spotted a man leaning against the railing of the tower. He smiled. This was too easy. The war was too easy. The defenders were always unprepared for all attacks on their positions. He kept a bead on the man, following his movements.

'Take them down. Leave none alive', he ordered.

The squad fired as one, one round each, boring through the victims in the tower.

'Destroy the Generator and we can go.'

Rictus ran up to the generator, planting a melta bomb to the side of the thrumming machine with a clang and hiss as the clamps sealed.

'30 second fuse,' said Rictus, running away from the soon to be ahniallated generator.

'Right lets go,' ordered Travian.

They turned, walking back into the forest and back to the shadows as the objective was erased from the landscape...
