INQUISITOR with Twin Linked Pistols

The Superbird

Recommended Posts

This is my first post here so go easy on me.

Ive been collecting and playing 40K for about 10 years now but upon bringing up i was thinking about arming my Witch Hunter Inquistor with two Plasma pistols to a friend, all hell broke loose and they said it was completely against the rules. Surely as an independent character she can have whatever she wants from the wargear list (withstanding the restrictions)

Any enlightenment here would be epic.

Thanks in advance guys xx

There's nothing in the rules that prevents you from giving an Inquisitor twin plasma pistols. They're not a restricted item. If you did this, you would have used both weapon choices and it would get the +1 attack for two single-handed weapons. I've never seen this loadout used before so I can't say how effective it would be.
Yep, that's pretty much it-- master-crafting it and maybe giving yourself an extra CCW and sayignt he second pistol is it...or something... The only ones who regularly use pistols as twin-linked weapons that also count as two CCWs are the Seraphim.

You don't have to have something in the other hand, or you can have a two-handed weapon. Unfortunately, C:WH inquisitors have no access to defensive equipment such as a storm shield, and their best two-handed weapons are, of course, melee weapons (eviscerator or power stake) or a simple storm bolter.

You could get a Brazier of Holy Fire, so that if necessary you can use it as a flamer in one round of shooting, and if you do get stuck in CC it'll count as another CCW. But then, you'd choose between a flamer template that oculd kill many or a master-crafted plasma pistol which will kill one.

Twin-linking does not come for free just because you equip a model with two of the same ranged weapon. The rules have to explicitly state that this is the case (e.g., Seraphim, Tau XV8 Crisis suits). So while you can legally purchase two pistols for your character model, it'd still only be able to fire one of them (an infantry model can only fire a single ranged weapon in the firing phase), and there would be no special rules helping that shot out.

As noted, you want to master-craft the pistol if you want the benefit of a reroll.

I think, technically, you must purchase Master Crafting for the weapon. Buying a second version of the weapon does nothing other than having a copy of the weapon. The rules dont say buying 2 of the same weapon gives it master crafting.

Mel has the best idea of buying a CCW and Master Crafting to represent a similar effect, then you can model the CCW as a second Pistol.

I'm in the camp of that both looking cool and not being in any way rules or fluff inconsistant,

1point for a CC weapon, 15 points for the master crafting and you have plasma dueling pistols kicking out Jammz with good nature and aplome.
