SoB Objective Counters

Well the Sisters of Battle Army is about to be laid to rest, I've been playing them about three years consistently at the tournaments and it's time to move on.

My final project will be Custom Objective Counters inspired by an image from somewhere... really thought it was the codex?

Three swords (was so close to using all my green knight fleur-de-lys banner poles) inside a bundle of wood. A chain is wrapped around the bundle and a fleur-de-lys medallion hangs in the center.

I really want a weathered look so I will be running the swords over candle flame multiple times. The hilt will be an inverted fleur-de-lys and some banners may be pinned to the hilts or trees.

Anyhow, I still don't get how the swords tie in with SoBs at all besides the fleurs. Care to enlighten?

Not quite sure, I'm working from memory of a Warhammer drawing that embelished a codex or White Dwarf perhaps. Much like the fleur-de-lys, the swords symbolize the three leaves or petal that make up the icon.

Nasty cold this week, so back on the project... more greenstuff more!

A small amount of greenstuff, began pinching and pulling to get a nice light coating of greenstuff. Pinched the greenstuff on the one side then the other, my fingerprints left a nice crosshatching on the handle.

Kicking myself going for the rusted sword look, decided to wrap 30wght thread around the handle to smooth out the handle/hilt imperfections.

I have a mix of orbs, skulls and fleur-de-lys going onto the hilts as I don't have nearly enough for 18 hilts!

Going to add to the height and redo the ends of the logs by rolling up some thin plastic to get a spiral effect, I think the blades are just too long...

Here is mine objective with bones as a theme

Nice Counter HC! What's your recipe for the skulls? Can never get mine just right...

Anyone else inspired or want to share? Fess up!

Need more height, swords are much to large for the small pile of wood...

Handy dandy tool made using card stock, depending on how tight you pinch will determine the size of the roll.

And the result...

Now blending... scrape the seam with the side of the tip of your modelling knife and blend with your finger. The deep grooves are made using an old exacto knife not a sharp modelling knife.

Now off to the Dollar Store to find some fleur-de-lys...

Very nice counters, please post pics when they are painted.

@HolyCrusader

I really like your counter too.

Here are my objective counters.

Only 3 so far, still deciding on what my others should be.

FIRST - Imperial Shrine

This was from the original Sister Battalion box set from second ed.

Pretty simple, I just added a 25mm and a 40 mm bases to the bottom to give a little height and width to the model.

SECOND - Ecclesiastic Alter

Again this one was pretty simple.

This is the gothic alter from forgeword.

I simply filed off the screaming face from the book (didn't fit the sister's theme) and put some extra bits from the Immolator spur on for good measure.

On the cover of the book I had to put a SM backpack banner top to cover up the hole from the mouth of the face i filed off.

THIRD - Memorial in honor of the Venerable Arch-Confessor Redemptor Kyrinov

This one was also pretty easy to pull off.

The dais that he is standing on is a child proof prescription bottle cap.

And one last picture with all three for scale.

As an old lazy git I do this as simple as possible... Gryphone sepia ink on white

Basically spray it white and then ink this pile of bones few times with gryphone sepia (GW ink).

Love the crypt/tomb/alter and OMG why didn't I think of the statue! No matter the race you can have a collection of 2 minute statues as objective counters! I'm certain we all have at least half a dozen classic models laying around.

Good stuff Guys 'n Gals!

No luck finding fleur-de-lys at the craft or dollar store... time to whip up a greenstuff/white glue mould. Some items from the Canoness blister pack looks really good, may have to haggle with the wife.
