Cheex
Honestly? I think the green/red on the arms remind me more of Christmas than anything. Just because they're complementary colours doesn't mean they'll work all the time: complementary colours need to be used to highlight little things, like what you've done with the green eyes on a red helmet. Having two colours with about the same hue/saturation and about the same level of prominence just gives it a slightly cheesy feel. I'd consider making the arms the same colour as the body, and maybe darkening the green shoulder trims a bit. Think of how the Dark Angels work: if their green was as bright as that of the Salamanders, the reds would just begin to look silly. Personally, I'd probably swap the red and green on the shoulders completely, anyway, to increase the contrast between the red and near-black. Just some ideas, hope they help. CaptainForge
Does seem to bring to mind a christmas feel. What about since they are from a forest planet, considering some type of Woodland camo. Camo is a bit tough to pull off, but maybe use some darker shade green and just add in a few camo patterns, nothing to crazy. For me green tends to make marines too Dark Angel, or Salamander looking. Not that it's a bad thing though. Plus you have the added hassle of painting different colors, the green trim on the shoulder pads will be touchy unless you have really good skills. Terrible_Trygon
The brown still reminds me of chocolate or Christmas Pudding. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159473-brotherhood-of-the-gnurl/#findComment-1870175 Share on other sites
Hubernator
Christmas Pudding? What next? Chaos Ice Cream Warriors? ...wait... ;) I forgot... that was MY idea :pinch: Your scheme is way too busy IMHO. I honestly don't like it. The brown can work but choosing a second colour is what you ought to do again. That red, green and yellow won't do it justice methinks. Try something like Jungle green or a similar shade of yellow to the brown. NemFX
I think your trying to cram a few too many colours into one picture, but this is my interpretation of your colourscheme..
