WIP Avatar of Slaanesh (New pics: bottom of page 1)

Since this could also double as a GD in my slaaneshi marine army, I figure this guy's got a not too bad place in PC&A.

Now, for those of you who may doubt my use of an Eldar mini, please read p. 26 of the Daemon codex. At least one Avatar has met this fate, so I figured it might be neat to try and convert a properly Slaaneshi version of it.

He's supposed to have Dark Eldar-styled rock & roll hair, one of those cheesy anime gags with the holes in it, and a set of bondage cuffs. All in all, it was a bit of a challenge to assemble. I double-pinned the body, but getting it smoothed out caused other problems so I had to stuff a mess of GS into his back to get him to look proper. And I don't think he's done; I know I used too much super glue and will have to remove a fair bit of it before it gets time to paint.

I did the GS work with some clay tools I have lying around from when I normally do sculpey work. Suggestions and constructive criticism are always welcome.

its a good start - but it still looks too much like an avatar. it needs some more "slaaneshi" touches.

maybe remove the helmet pieces and replace with horns, replace one of the legs with a demonic leg with hoof (ala keeper of secrets) and perhaps change up the breastplate.

keep going! ;)

I'll look into that, although I'm dreading the idea of transplanting hooves onto it. I was trying to keep the general eldar body, but do paint so it looks like the magma inside has turned pink and purple- very slaaneshi colors. The helmet pieces... yeah, annoying. I thought about it, but it looked at first (and second) glance that it was too deeply attacked to the figure to remove. Otherwise I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks.

I've built a Demon Prince that looks like an Eldar Avatar. I removed the free hand and replaced it with a claw and I also added some Balrog wings to it. Eventually I'll get around to painting it.

No claw yet in that image, but I've been really behind in getting decent pictures to post.

Upon closer examination, removing both the horns is a project I'm not up for. One of them would be fairly straightforward, however the other has an earring attached to it (?!) which covers both part of the runic design as well as part of the avatar's collar.

I dremelled the runes off the sword, to make room for what will hopefully be a very neat wet-blending project. I'm also eyeing the runes on his head, and thinking about dremelling them off as well to make room for some GS work. Maybe an icon of slaanesh?

A good start, and idea in general (I first doubted the fluff aspect but as there is cannon on it...) but I agree with wokkers - it needs more Slaaneshi influence. I'd go with all of wokkers suggestions, and possibly add more chains/leather straps/bondage stuff to make it look like a prisoner/pet. For the breast plate maybe have it broken on one side and a breast being visible? As if it were slowing turnng into a KoS.

I like how the hair, instead of being up in the elaborate fashion of the original Avatar, has fallen down as if it is no longer being maintained, ala prisoners. It's a really cool touch.

Keep up the good work and I defo want to see more!!

I thought this idea looked very familiar so I had to do a little search foo and I found this from some time ago. It contains a great many ideas for this exact thing.

Corrupted Avatar

Just thought that might help with ideas. ^_^

=]D[=

Hm... I like the idea, but right now they're beyond my skill level. As it was, I don't quite like the slaaneshi icon I GSed onto its head to replace the head runes. Changing the horns and stuff are projects I'll think about when my GS skills are much more advanced.

IF you would like to give him horns, but have problems with the earring, a solution could be to remove the horns and earring, and then give him a big fur collar to remove any signs of hacking off the earring.

GW has a tutorial here:

I would suggest you browse around on those pages - there is also a tut for some leather, and some studded armor (all very slaaneshi).

Claws are for cutting flesh - think Hellraiser and the new daemonettes - which is very slaaneshi.

Tentacles are more nurgly (diseased lims) or Tzeentch (changing limbs). Tentacles could be slaanesh, but it would have to be in some kinda hentai way....

Still doesn't make sense to me. Claws (and rending of flesh in general) always felt more Khornate or Tzeentchian (or even Chaos Undivided). Daemonettes, at least in my mind, have mega claws because the rest of their bodies are laid bare for their enemys' painful caresses. Thus, they need something that they can use without worry of being stripped or disarmed. Other daemons of Slaanesh, even the KoS, don't really need them. I could see a KoS armed with whips instead of those huge claws it always seems to come with.

Hm... this may be a project for later, but that avatar's arms are almost in the right position for a whip of some kind.

Update. I decided to do away with the Wailing Doom entirely. Instead, he's got a short tentacle whip, with a tongue-like thing on the end of it. Yes, my GS skills need work.

And since I overestimated the volume of GS needed for the project, and noticed that the avatar has a buttcrack, I decided to give him that most Slaaneshi of devices- a combat thong. Which turned out to be harder to sculpt than the whip, even though it was much smaller and got done quicker. Even GS has trouble defying the law of gravity, I suppose.

Hmm, it's getting better now. If I can just say these few things, I'll be on my way. The tentacle should be like Lucius Demon Whip with all the little tentacles wrapped up and such. Currently it looks like it's one of those pool toys kids hit each other with(It's to early to remember the name). Second, I don't like the fact it still has the Avatars head pieces on the sides, even though they are adorned by Slaaneshi icons. I honestly think it would look best if you removed one of them, say the unadorned winglet and replaced it with writhing tentacles hanging down for a much more sinister, creepy, and possessed feel. Because right now, this bad boy looks like he's just rebelling against his dad like an unruly teenager. Otherwise, it seems promising, just needs some steering in a proper direction.

Just my two Kraks.

Because right now, this bad boy looks like he's just rebelling against his dad like an unruly teenager.

I feel sorry for the Dad whos child ran around in a thong with a whip slaughtering people in the name of the God of Lust. ^_^

I also feel sorry for the Dad whos child is just under 20 feet.

It's still too Eldar for me, you need to do away with the runes. It's a good idea and a good start, but it still needs work.
