[LPC] Black Templars AoBR Dreadnought...

Hi all

Just bringing you my 1st WIP posting to fulfill the requirements of the LPC. I'll be doing some more updates shortly.

Never been the biggest fan of dreadnoughts and big vehicles (always been an infantryman at heart) but seeing as I will be needing some 'big guns' for my BT force, I figured I would get this out the way first.

The AoBR dready is an OK model, but it looks exactly that, a plastic model kit. There are some pretty glaring gaps in some parts that needed work, and I hated the hollowcast arms. I guess it feels to me like I am painting something that I bought from Toys R Us instead of a highly detailed miniature. Anyways, I digress. Here's what I have done so far. I am working my way across from his right to left :D

I'm still finding my feet with highlighting black, but I am happy with the results so far.

C+C welcome!

i like it, the chipped metal and gray highlights give it a good amount of depth, keep up the good work.

just a bit off topic: as a templar player, do you plan to use the bolter marines? i didn't use my AOBR marines for my templars cause i feel the bolters are a little silly in my army style

anyway, i like it, i wish i could paint as good as that lol

Thanks MVT!

I did think about adding them to my forces. I trimmed off the shoulder icon's so I could paint them with the Templar cross. The thing is that they look so static, ut I figured if I peppered them in with all the other marines that they would'nt be so noticable. maybe I'll have a rethink ;)

You paint job looks really good so far, the chips on the metal look great and keep it away from the factory fresh look. Templars stuff always looks best when it's old looking IMO.

As for the bolter guys I think they are quite static as well, I normally don't use many bolters however I'm reconsidering using a few mixed into each squad for tourney play so that I can capitolize on the new wound allocation rules. I don't think they fit the feel of the army that much but if it boosts the units survival rate... might be worth testing.

Yeah, I agree! They certainly seem to be more 'up close and personal' types.

Maybe i'll just paint them up and sell them, then i can get more marines I can convert to BT's <_<

Cheers PG!
