40k RUMORS: IG Latest Details

- The Stormtrooper greens with the shotguns do not imply that IG Stormtroopers will be getting shotguns, but are instead for WH Arbites-style Stormtroopers.

- Stormtroopers will not be released in the first wave, but instead may be released with an Inquisitor supplement oriented around Planetfall.

So, maybe the forces of the inquisition are getting updated sooner rather than later? Shame it's not something a bit more GK/SoB specific but every little helps.

Why would they want to release stormtroopers later I wonder - does GW think it will get them more bucks?

It's not that Inquisition is the only army that gets Stormtroopers.

And also.....Arbites-Style Stormtroopers? That sounds to me a bit more witch-hunter oriented.

If the Arbites can train their guys up to Stormtrooper Level, horray for the new fluff.

So, I'll take this with a grain of salt as well. To me, it does make sense to delay a perfectly good IG release just to beef

up an Inquisitor supplement.

Time will tell I guess - I'd rather have the new stormtrooper box with the rest of the IG stuff, really. :D

Yeah, GW rules.

My retailer told me today I would not be able to order any Blood Angels miniatures from him anymore - I'd have to go directly to the source.

Yay for that. Monopolization ftw.

Just as I had decided what Space Marine Army to build.

I guess it's just, really GW.

I'm totally surprised I don't marvel at their management anymore - I think my subconscious has accepted the bitter reality of GW market 'reality' being too sophisticated for

my mortal brain to even remotely grasp.

I just hope they just don't go bancrupt - I love 40k.

Add this the rumored plastic Gk models, and it does look like sooner more than later. Add to this that that GW has stated that they are not interested in releasing plastic Sisters due to the loss of detail, and we get a possible Ordo Malleus strike force supporting Adeptus Arbites in an upcoming suppliment, which may be for Planetfall.

I have to say that even if only some of these IG rumours are true, and we should bear in mind that BoLS has been pretty much on the money recently, I'm actually quite excited about this prospective release.

It is worth remembering that WH's & DH's are the only ones in the standard game who have official access to allies. If just a few of these rumours are true then it poses quite a positive prospect, especially for the =][= player who wants to field a force without the like of the sisters or GK's.

I wouldn't hold your breath, no rumours on that score as of yet. I got wind of the GK's in production about 12 months ago although it wasn't clear that they were going to be FW at the time, however on the sisters front? The ony thing I'd say is that on the 5th ed release weekend phoenix knight and myself were fortubate enough to have a chat with one of the head honchos in the design studio. When I asked if there was anything SoB to look forward to in the forseeable future the reply was that he would like to give the sisters another armoured vehicle of some sort and flicked through the CAD folder to show me one of the new IG chimera variants, pointed at it and gave a wry smile. So maybe there's something in the pipeline but at the moment I very much doubt it.
Could you describe the variant? Give us all a little something to look forward to?

Well, considering there's a number of variants rumoured to be coming out for the IG I presumed it's going to be one of those. The only noticable difference between the one we saw and the standard was a different turret that appeared to have either some kind of super heavy melta or, more probably, a super heavy flamer (a redeemer flamestorm cannon?).

Yep, it was a good day for getting news of new stuff. He was a great guy and very chatty but he only hinted, no talk of what it would be.

Yeah, I saw this too. It is kinda mixed news for the =I= community IMO. I love IG, I almost went with it instead of DH when I first got in but the religious pull and noble austere of the GK sold me. What I have been seeing from the rumours of the new IG codex is that they are going to include an Inquisitor that will convey benefits to the army. This move is expected since GW will probably scrap the allies rule when they finally come round to updating our stuff. Makes sense too since they are scrapping doctrines and instead going with super customizable platoons that could open the door for some serious abuse (which we get to benefit from until they do fix this problem...or just say we can't take allies). Also, it makes sense because I have found it hard to mesh allies with my parent lists of either DH or WH, they just play differently and only have so much synergy. Our codexes were really made to expand an existing force of IG or SM so in some ways ditching allies is a god send to our endurability and forcing uniqueness. And when you throw in Codex:Planet Strike into the mix, it makes thing even more interesting with rumours of the stormtroopers coming with it as =I= elements. This could preserve those players who will get snuffed with the new codexes emphasis on Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle, because this will allow you a way to play an =I= army (besides playing IG) w/o those elements in it. All and all, I don't really see this as a heralding of a coming codex but rather laying a ground work for future changes.

Also, for those who haven't seen it: Stormtrooper Linky

Dunno about you, but Sisters and IG have a lot of synergy. Sisters HQ units are simply great support units for IG platoons, as long as you keep at least one model of each squad within six inches of one of the canonesses they are stubborn at leadership 10. Maybe the Inquisitors suck with synergy, but the Sisters don't :cuss Heheh. Sisters units need to support eachother anyway, despite the popularity of the jump pack canoness the majority of the army does best when it works together.

On the contrary, why have a cannoness when you can have a COMMISSAR! Seriously though, that is a good strategy but I don't know how that would even flow with the army. So you are going to have a separate cannoness just chilling with some officers in the back corner blasting away from a distance while her battle sisters are actually going on the offensive with righteous zeal? Besides from a fluff standpoint, the ranged weapons only go so well if all your stuff is getting up close and personal, potentially blocking LoS and/or granting cover saves. That and it goes counter to the maxing out faith points, gives mediocre units since you can't take doctrines and is potentially bad because you want your opponent to break the unit so you can shoot him the next turn with a TON of double tapping flashlights. But then again, I could be wrong. But thinking a bit more on it, has anyone considered making inducted guard like SoB in training? Like the platoons are Schola Progenium initiates and proving their salt on the battlefield. Fluffy and making for interesting conversions....

Yes, it goes counter to maxing out faith points. It would not fit into my "Way of the Flame Warrior" tactica, but it is a very valid strategy. I made a list for it some time ago, but it was in fourth I believe so take it as you will.

All Blood Angels models have needed to be orderd from GW for atleast 6 months now. That includes the Baal Predator, Furiouso dreadnought, all SC's and shoulder pads.

@SKeeM; Please tell my local GW as they still sell the Baal & Furiouso.

And then my local non-GW gaming store as they still have the Dreads, (Sold out of the Preds a few days ago, said he has a few more coming with the next shipment)

Meanwhile, everyone please note that there is nether hide nor hair of Plastic Sisters and Plastic Grey Knights but at least we'll have STs and Arbites.

...

A good five years after they first printed the codex.

[slowclap]@Games Workshop[/slowclap]

Well, I meant 'we' as in the entirety of the Witchhunters community in general and not just you and me. (Could be if you want but I hardly know you :))

Point is, if this is intended for the WH codex then it is rather late. The miniature 'Wave' was four-five years ago with nothing since then.

And then there is the suggestion to us players that by doing an Inquisitional Storm Troopers release that GW doesn't care about the Sisters and GK any more, considering them unneeded or unnecessary within their respective armies.

If these stormies are truly meant to be replacements for the IG Karsakin (Spelling?) and just coincidently can be used for ISTs then wouldn't it make more sense to release them as par an part of the IG 'wave' or, if it must be Planetstrike, advertise them as being part of the IG. Not just pretending that, 'Look =][= fans and players alike, we haven’t forgotten you, have a look at this'?

If they want the =][= fans to not feel like they were left out then they can start with re-releasing the BBB with Sisters and Grey Knights being recognised in the fluff section.

Then start with the much need plastics.
