Billy Butcher
This is my first finished 40K vehicle since '92 :s I was experimenting with weathering and got a bit, erm, carried away. Still it should shift with T-cut and elbow grease :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159682-10000-years-old-could-do-with-a-bit-of-tlc/ Share on other sites
Ompfris
I love it - It looks just like the old tanks out side the gunsmith here the rust looks great! Best Tank yet. Billy Butcher
very nice could you give us an insight on how you acheived this? Achieved the (slightly extensive) rust effect? theredcorsair
First, there is no such thing as too much rust Second, You do it by drybrushing oranges and browns Third, Friggin awesome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159682-10000-years-old-could-do-with-a-bit-of-tlc/#findComment-1873154 Share on other sites
mightygoose
your rust is very bright, i know its on black but less orange more brown would serve to create more realistic rust.... the coverage is about right, but the orange makes it look overpowering... HJL
honestly i think the orange makes the rust look real. are you sure you didnt rub real rust powder on the model? great job. Castus Xanthis
I agree with Mightygoose, too much orange in your rust. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159682-10000-years-old-could-do-with-a-bit-of-tlc/#findComment-1873680 Share on other sites

Billy Butcher
The rust isn't quite as orange as it looks in the pics, the white balance is off - check out the Imperial Fist in the background - he's actually a deep dark yellow kind of colour. The effect was achieved through a combination of dry brushing various browns and then the wonder that is MIG pigments :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159682-10000-years-old-could-do-with-a-bit-of-tlc/#findComment-1874000 Share on other sites

cann0nf0dder
Looks very cool, though it looks a bit like a new tank that has been left in the rain too long, some chips, scars and battle damage would add to the effect (sometimes the followers of the false emperor get lucky and actually hit something), also some mud around the tracks might give it an un-washed feel. Billy Butcher
Started adding some battle damage, as it's also going to be used to transport Berzerkers I thought it's might be an idea to declare it's purpose :D I wanted to logos too look a bit like they were painted on using a torn off arm as a brush, they look eery for real, the blood almost glows :s Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159682-10000-years-old-could-do-with-a-bit-of-tlc/#findComment-1882846 Share on other sites

wiplash
the khorne symbol looks great i would reccomend next time dulling it down a bit though it looks just slightly too vibrant and out of place but otherwise its very well excecuted and i nice touch the kinda thing you seen in mysterious crime films im not so sure about the bullet holes either look to shiny but other than that its absolutely superb i hope we can see a formation of these soon. OwenCrute
Bayonet on a pintle mounted weapon! Yes! Nice rust. The 'painted-with-an-arm' effect worked really well. The bullet holes aint shiny, more a trick of the light. It's the 'blood' thats wierd, it is dull usually, but under certain light it kinda glows. perhaps its infused with the power of khorne? :( Or perhaps its because its blood red mixed with Tamiya clear red? gdeathlegion
Beautiful, ignore the ppl who say it's too vibrant. The rust is perfect, you can tell it's rusted from across the table I'm sure. The khornate symbol on the side has a tang of orange, giving it the consistency and balance it needs to look incredible on the table. Awesome paint job, almost a piece of art.
