Exanimo
Nothing special for you guys i guess but wanted to share my very first painted Rhino/Razorback. Painted all the parts so i can swap stuff out and use it as either. First of in Rhino mode: http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2107/imgp1646bp3.jpg And the back: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2690/imgp1647jf4.jpg And Razorback mode: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4238/imgp1644pr6.jpg The other side. http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/4992/imgp1643al4.jpg -My one regret is that i skipped/missed some moldlines, have to pay better attention to that next time. -Might add some smudge to the air intakes on the side still, not sure if that wouldn't be too much. - Another thing i've been breaking my head over: Has a techmarine a red helmet normally? Couldn't really find that. I did give my sergeant a red helmet and decided against giving the techmarine a red one, but still wonder what he official rule would have been. -The Rhino is mostly drybrushed as you can tell, didn't feel that highlighting it with lines would really make it look alot better. Besides, this gave it a bit more of a used feel. Do wonder if lining vehicles is used as a technique aswell. blood_raven_240
Not bad :) According to the Painting Space Marines Guide in a recent White Dwarf, Ultramarines Techmarines have Red Helmets. I think. And... is that a Black Templars Rhino Door that I see? Dusktiger
some of the techmarine turret gunners i've seen either have all red armor, or the Ad. Mech. shoulderpad is red with metal trim, and the ad mech symbol painted the half black-white. Drathmere
Looks good! You can tidy up your transfers by using micro sol, a kind of acidic wash that will make the transfer sort of melt onto the miniature. After doing that a coat of dull coat will make it look like you painted the decal on. -john Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159807-ultra-rhinorazorback/#findComment-1874737 Share on other sites
Exanimo
Thats a Templars door idd. :) I'm kind of going with a theme where the marines have some mixed armor as they used whatever material was available to get their gear back in order. Suppose my company is fighting off in a far corner of the galaxy and supplies are scares so they are making due. Cheap excuse to use parts that i like and give my units a more individual feel here and there. :) @John: I got the Micro sol, was just using it for crooked surfaces but you got a good point there. Gonna try that :) Gonna look up some pics of techmarines then and see if i like the look of it. Rather give him one red shoulderpad (or 2 even) then a red helmet so my sergeant(s) stand out more. Thanks for the tips so far ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159807-ultra-rhinorazorback/#findComment-1874749 Share on other sites

Blackjack13
Very nice job!! I'd say, if you are gonna make him a techmarine, give him a red shoulder pad over the helmet (due to the sgt. confusion and that it will kinda show him to be a 'tech-in-training'). However, I've read soemwhere that it is the basic marines who man the guns in rhinos (so I presume the same would apply to RBs), therefore how he is at the moment would work fine too. Again awesome work, hope to see more!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159807-ultra-rhinorazorback/#findComment-1875632 Share on other sites
Exanimo
I've read soemwhere that it is the basic marines who man the guns in rhinos A friend said the same earlier today so got a good point there. Just weird that the sprue contained a shoulder with a techmarine logo on it. (sprocket with a skull on it, thats the techmarine designation right?) True Thorn
Nope, all vehicles belong to the armory, with the exception of landspeeders that are piloted by Assault Marines. Marines assigned to the armory typically paint their helms in ad mech red as well as having a sholderpad that shows their placement. Edit: since marines attached to the armory are either techmarines or training to be one. Also, most importantly, Great mini. do you just have 2 sets of ports or do they adjust so you can stick a marine out of it? Exanimo
Also, most importantly, Great mini. do you just have 2 sets of ports or do they adjust so you can stick a marine out of it? I have 2 seperate ports, there were 4 half lids in the sprue, 1 port with gunplacement and one without. So can just swap them, didn't need to make any magnet constructions :whistling: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/159807-ultra-rhinorazorback/#findComment-1878268 Share on other sites
