Just ordered 17 Chaos novels!

So, the past week or so I've found myself searching eBay for good deals on various Chaos novels. Unfortunately, when I found one, I'd always check the seller to find out what other books he had, and, well... nothing was ever quite enough! I found a couple sellers with loads of books I was interested in, but the fact that they didn't combine shipping always left me a bit irked. Seeing as how I won't have access to my shipping address any time soon, I haven't felt too compelled to say "screw it" and just buy something half-cocked.

Last night, however, after a few White Caucasians, I, well... well I dropped $135 at amazon.com after seeing they offer free shipping and would discount some books for FREE! Granted, the books won't arrive for roughly a month, but I won't be back stateside to retrieve them for 6-7 weeks so who cares?

Unfortunately, this horde of books leaves me with quite a predicament: what the hell do I read first?! That's why I've come to you, fellow B&Cers to ask your advice. Given the list of titles I will shortly display for you, in what order would you read these novels? Hmmm, maybe ordering 17 books is a bit too much to ask, so how about this: What would be your top 5 and why? Preferred army, best adherence to fluff, most exciting, most well-written... I don't care. I've already chosen these books because I know they're about armies that I'm interested in, so I know I'll end up enjoying all of em. I just need to know where to start!

And now... the list...

Eisenhorn Omnibus - Dan Abnett

Lord of the Night - Simon Spurrier

Dark Adeptus - Ben Counter

Horus Rising - Dan Abnett

Let the Galaxy Burn - Marc Gascoigne

False Gods - Graham McNeill

Fulgrim - Graham McNeill

Dark Apostle - Anthony Reynolds

Legion - Dan Abnett

I recomend reading the Horus Heresy Series in order but not nessessarily one after the other. They're a bit heavy to say the least. Read them all at once and you'll be licking a light switch before you get to Fulgrim (my personal fav of the series btw). Dropping the odd Ben Counter Novel in the gaps (Daemonworld and Dark Adeptus specifically) will lighten the mood a bit before you get back to epic task that is the HH series. Dark Apostle is a good fun read aswell. I'm currently waiting for Dark Disciple and Mechanium to arrive so I can't pass any judgement on them yet but I'm guessing they won't break with their forebear's traditions, BL books rarely do.
Lord of the Night - Simon Spurrier

Let the Galaxy Burn - Marc Gascoigne

Dark Apostle - Anthony Reynolds

Dark Disciple - Anthony Reynolds

Daemon World - Ben Counter

Top 5 Chaos books, picked because they do a good job of fleshing out what it is to be Chaos.

I reccomend reading the HH novels in order as well.

As for the rest

Eisenhorn Omnibus - Dan Abnett : 3 books about the adventures of one Inquisitor and his retinue, all part of one overarching story line, not related to much else in the 40K world.

Lord of the Night - Simon Spurrier: Good standalone book about the Nightlords CSM

Dark Adeptus - Ben Counter: Part 2 of the Grey Knights trilogy, can be ready alone but it does ref the first book a few times.

Let the Galaxy Burn - Marc Gascoigne: IIRC a compilation of a pile of short stories, many reprints from other similar compilations.

The Soul Drinkers Omnibus - Ben Counter: Cool series about a new (home brewed) legion that gets "tricked" into being "chaosy" but stays loyal. There is now a 4th book out to read after this one (3).

Dark Apostle - Anthony Reynolds : Standalone about the Word Bearers, good to read right after Battle for the Abyss for HH since it follows some of the same characters but 10k years later.

Planetkill - Lindsey Priestley: no clue, havent heard of it.

Dark Disciple - Anthony Reynolds: Sequel to Apostle above.

Daemon World - Ben Counter : Standalone about a demon world with some demons and CSM, haven't read it but heard it's not his strongest effort.

Do I really need to get the HH books not specifically related to Chaos?

The first 5 HH books all deal with chaos (Death Gaurd, Emperor's Chilren and Sons of Horus mostly). I haven't read 6-9 but from what I've heard they deal with the Fallen, Alpha Legion, Word Bearers and the Dark Mechanicum respectively so as far as I can tell they all have a chaos aspect.
