Dilgar
So after reading up a bit on the rules etc. I come up with a few questions still. Does Ordnance Strikes scatter with ONE D6? Do I have to target a point WITHIN a terrain piece? Can I then place the middle of the template(the hole) at the very edge of the terrain piece, and by doing so I get almost half the template outside the terrain piece, after this it scatters? Can I have an Inqvisitor with let´s say 3 henchmen join a squad of GKT and even Deep Strike, or can´t he join units when he has henchmen with him? And a more general rule, can he then deep strike in with them if I would want to? Smoke Launchers reduce all penetrating hits to glancing hits. BBB Smoke Launchers grant 4+ cover saves...From the “Gotcha” FAQ...I have a hard time figuring out which is better the new rule or the old one. Isn´t it pretty good on a Dreadnought? About the Dreadnought having Ld 10 with the Aegis rule, why does it need a Ld for, can it be targeted with normal “infantry” psyker abilites? Or is it something else I´m missing? Finally what is a Grey Knight Terminator RETINUE? I just read this from Number6 excellent battle report and success on the field of battle CONGTRATS! Thanks for all the answers guys! This site really is excellent, and I would most definetely contribute towards making it better, but since I´m studying and not working it´s kinda hard ;) A side not: I finally got o few GKs togheter, and must say I can´t wait to get em painted and thrown in action ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160061-a-few-questions/ Share on other sites
Grand Master Tyrak
Does Ordnance Strikes scatter with ONE D6? Yes. The "(In)Accuracy" special rule under the Orbital Strike entry means you scatter 1D6, but the result on the D6 is doubled. Do I have to target a point WITHIN a terrain piece? Well, you have to target it to a specific terrain piece. How do you do that whilst targeting outside the terrain piece, hm? :) Can I then place the middle of the template(the hole) at the very edge of the terrain piece, and by doing so I get almost half the template outside the terrain piece, after this it scatters? I don't see any problem with this. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160061-a-few-questions/#findComment-1877663 Share on other sites
number6
Does Ordnance Strikes scatter with ONE D6? Yes, but you double the result rolled on that one die. Do I have to target a point WITHIN a terrain piece? Can I then place the middle of the template(the hole) at the very edge of the terrain piece, and by doing so I get almost half the template outside the terrain piece, after this it scatters? So long as the center hole of the template is completely within the targeted terrain piece before you roll the (in)accuracy scatter, it doesn't matter where the rest of the template is at that time. Can I have an Inqvisitor with let´s say 3 henchmen join a squad of GKT and even Deep Strike, or can´t he join units when he has henchmen with him? An Independent Character -- like an Inquisitor -- can only join other units if it's unencumbered by a retinue. Inquisitors with retinues are permanently attached to their retinue unless and until that retinue is destroyed. So no joining another unit. An Inquisitor may deep strike only if he's equipped with terminator armour. If he's got a retinue, then his retinue must be 100% equipped with terminator armour, too, otherwise how are they going to deep strike? This is impossible, of course; none of the retinue models can afford TDA, so no deep striking. And a more general rule, can he then deep strike in with them if I would want to? You can join an elite Inquisitor to any unit you like when the game begins. Even before the game begins, actually; even into reserves, even attached to a unit designated for deep striking. However, the Inquisitor must be wearing TDA if you want him to deep strike. He doesn't have any rules that allow him to deep strike without the benefit of TDA bought as wargear. The codex rule is, overall, a much better deal. Unless the dread is immobilized and had all of its weaponry destroyed, a glancing hit simply cannot destroy the vehicle in question (unless the weapon causing the glancing hit also happens to be AP 1, of course, in which case the vehicle damage chart modifier is only -1 instead of -2). About the Dreadnought having Ld 10 with the Aegis rule, why does it need a Ld for, can it be targeted with normal “infantry” psyker abilites? Or is it something else I´m missing? Read the Aegis rule again. It's a LD stat roll-off. Dreads, being Walkers, don't normally have a LD stat. Finally what is a Grey Knight Terminator RETINUE? I just read this from Number6 excellent battle report and success on the field of battle CONGTRATS! The retinue rules for a GK Hero can be found in that unit's entry. Essentially, you get to attach normal GKTs to the GK Hero and it behaves as a singular GK Terminator unit where the squad leader is the GK Hero (i.e., either a GM or a BC). Apogee
Didn't the FAQ address the (in)accuracy rule, saying that we should just use the indirect fire rules now? Or was that just for WH? number6
Didn't the FAQ address the (in)accuracy rule, saying that we should just use the indirect fire rules now? Or was that just for WH? That piece of errata, for mysterious reasons, only appears in the WH FAQ, not the DH FAQ. Going strictly by RAW, therefore, DH orbital strikes work like they always have. You can, of course, choose to follow the WH FAQ's errata on this matter. Just be sure to notify your opponent.
