And to all brothers, I'm doing the background of my chapter. It's always great to have your opinion and idea.

The backbone of the chapter's background is as following:(C&C welcome!:) )

1. It's from a society in which warriors are highly respected. They are of the high rank in their homeworld, and with supreme power, the chapter is of great importance and influce to the government.

2. The chapter sees the Emperor as the greatest warrior mankind has ever had. He fighted like the giant bear which is, believed by the chapter, the embodiment of a true warrior -- be still and always watch the enemy's move carefully, and then ONE decisive attack. Bears also carry the virtue of endurance. To damage the enemy, one must first learn how to discipline himself.

3. The chapter favours heavy fire power the most: with extreme defence, the heavy fire power can be seen as the bear's rage and roar.

4. It's a most important thing that the chapter is highly disciplined. Taught by the Emperor's great deeds, battle brothers of the chapter believe discipline is the only way mankind can survive the dark 41st millennium, and that is a way in which we can find peace inside our beating hearts.

5. The color theme of the chapter is yellow+black. Red is the color of veterans as can be seen in the sternguard picture, the shoulder pad rim is red. Gold is only accessable by the high rank commanders. Bear is certainly the main symbol of the chapter with FLOWERs as a second one. The reason is in entry 6:

6. While bear represents a true warrior's fighting spirit, flower shows the way of life/the spiritual thing within. By watching the flower which is beauty itself, one can learn a lot. The perfect but short bloom of Sakura reminds people that life is short and what makes a man a man is the ONE short perfect bloom in his life which is the result of his long-term preparation and training. And, it is said that to have seen a perfect bloom of Sakura is one's great honor. Plum, on the other way, blooms in winter and that is the way of eternal endurance: take what is must to be taken without a word and let the mind be trained in such way. In Chinese painting, plum blossom has small pink flowers around thin but very bold and strong branches. Also, peony is fortune and rolyalty (believed by us Chinese) because it always has very large flower and great blossom. That is a teaching of how a man should behave: do what ever you can to show the world yourself! etc. The chapter has flowers as the decoration here and there. Actually there is some on the chapter master's robe but the picture can not show his back:)

“熊出没注意”

"Higuma is the most dangerous animal in Hokkaido" (Higuma = "樋熊" I think it is. I'm not Japanese so can only guess)

That is just the meaning of the bear claws on my marines' shoulder pads. Sometimes you can see this kind of sign on cars especially large trucks. What's the meaning? You can guess :)~~~~~~

(And, funny thing is that, the pic is yellow+black, too. What a coincidence.)

*Original*

So, this is my own chapter master Vik'tor (count as Pedro Kantor) with a little bit conversion. Together with him are sternguards. The banner is just for decoration and can you tell what animal it is in the banner? :) If you can tell then I think I did well...

Welcome to have a guess!

*EDIT*

My chapter has yet played only one 1000 point game. Guess I spent most of my time doing painting things :) HOWEVER, with the chapter master built, the chapter is going to WAR. HAHA. Here are some additional pics if you are interested~

Well I'm sure it's awsome but....... there's no pic :)

*EDIT*: C-wrex you beat me to the punch lolz!!!!

anyway good job on the CA Kantor, it's quite well done. I'd have to say an Ursa is what is on the banner (what....... different name for a bear :))

WOW, didn't expect so many people know the Chinese things :0 and yes, it is a BEAR and I'm thinking a name for my chapter. 'Ursa' seems much better than 'bear' to be the core word :)

Thank you brothers who took the guess and it seems my intention was properly delivered by the banner~~

That looks awesome. They look very silimar to the imperal fists. What about Ursa claws be there name.

Good suggestion brother, but I think something closer to: "Claws of Ursa" or "Ursa's Claws"

The natives of the homeworld they recruit from and the marines themselves can see the Emperor as a Giant Ursa (bear).

If they have Ursa anywhere in the name though I'm gonna have to vote for SW successor or White Scars.

Well thank you brothers:)

Oh 'Ursa's claws' seems quite good and even 'see the Emperor as a Giant Ursa ', haha.

Although you all have seen Chinese style from these pics, I actually want them to be a little bit more than that. Something more east-asian, not just Chinese. The way they fight and survive I'd want it to be like Bushido(samurai things). And my marines tend to be like bears: strong in spirit, good in skill and can punch like a bear -- one hit but with awesome power.

Well thank you brothers:)

Just put Chuck Liddell on your banner then

epy, well done, i love the look, in terms of the chapter seeing the Emperor as a Giant Bear, maybe the chapter sees the Bear as the embodiment of pure warrior in their culture and thus the Emperor is the embodiment of this totem animal. not actually a bear incarnate, cuz that is how you made it sound. Although you could take the Emperor as a Giant Bear and not a symbol of a Bear. My Steel Wyverns consider the Emperor as a physical human manifestation of the Great Wyrm in their religion.

so keep it up, i love the banner!

...maybe the chapter sees the Bear as the embodiment of pure warrior in their culture and thus the Emperor is the embodiment of this totem animal. not actually a bear incarnate, cuz that is how you made it sound...

WOW great, it's just what I think! Not to take the bear as a god symbol but the embodiment of a true warrior. It's not the bear itself to be worshiped but the way of warrior.

And by the way, your Steel Wyverns is just greaaaat~

I just came up with a pun if you decided to call your chapter Ursa Major.

As the fighting reached it's peak on Lorn VI, it seemed as though the Imperial Guard would be overrun by four waves of cultists. Having already lost most of their support when a defiler silenced their heavy guns, the commisar was running out of viable options, when suddenly three drop pods landed in the midst of the enemy forces.

This did little to deter the mobs, as one of the cultists lifted off the ground and exploded into the giant form of a bloodthirster, which then charged into the Imperial line.

A single marine in black armour strode up beside him and plainly said "Do not worry, we will handle these vile creatures." before igniting his jump pack, and flying headlong at the bloodthirster. Using jet-assisted steps, he covered the distance in seconds before jumping up on his own power and climbed the bloodthirsters chest, using his lightning claws to dig into the beasts flesh.

The roar of the beast was over almost as quickly as it began, despite it's best attempts to shake him, the commander of the vanguard unit, upon reaching the beasts throat, ignited his jets again and carved out it's throat in a single slice.

The enormous beast fell backwards, crushing a large number of it's former allies as it started dissapating; the commander walking back to the commisar, out of breath.

"You have done us a great service this day, but I must know, what chapter honours us so?"

"Ursa." The exhausted marine managed to say.

"You sure kick ass!" One of the enthusiastic privates called out

"Major." the marine replied, before rejoining the rest of his squad and preparing to round up whatever foes left standing.

Fang's of ursa?

Really nice banner you got there.

And cudoes for using one of the most awsome animals for your chapter!

In most cultures bears represents power and strenght.

The vikings had berserkers that fought with the strenght and fury of a bear.

I just came up with a pun if you decided to call your chapter Ursa Major.

.....

Oh my, that's fantastic! I love that "A single marine in black armour strode up beside him" that is really cool:) It's so exciting to have my own chapter marines in a short story.

Cheers brother!

Yes it's true. Bears maybe are not the symbol of smartness (wolf), or swiftness (eagle), or rolyalty (lion), but they are indeed the embodiment of strength and steadiness. True warrior in asian admires the careful thinking before striking and the decisive powerful attack launched later. ;) It's something included in the character on the chapter master's personal banner.
