Legion of the Damned Shoulder Pads

The Damned

Recommended Posts

So, I've been working on my Legion of the Damned army for awhile now but I'm starting to run out of the legion of the damned shoulder pads. I've had to do a lot of sculpting for this project but, the shoulder pads are still a bit difficult for me. Does anyone know where I might be able to pick some up? I tried ebay but haven't had to much luck.

Thanks

Yeah, I'm actually working on that right now. Not having to much luck. I'm going to keep trying though I've got my last 4 set aside to figure this out. In the mean time, I'll still take suggestions of where to get some more.

I've got my hands full sculpting the skulls onto the backpack vents.

Depending on what shoulder pads you want, You can spine section from a necron model and green stuff it onto a shoulder pad, Then added ribs suing more green stuff. In theory it should work but I'm not sure. I tried it once and i didn't like my results. But it's only because I used to much green stuff.

i dont have any experience in LotD or tomb kings

but surely you could buy a box of tomb kings

chop them up and bend them then stick them on the shoulder pads and bodys

you could get like at least 20/30 LotD guys out of that no?

anyway just an idea

Lots of good Idea. I'm going to look into the Necron Idea, that sounds interesting. I think I might of gotten my first good GS mold of one of the shoulder pads. I used a thin layer that I was able to smash into all the little details and let it dry. I then supper glued some more GS to the back of it to make sure it holds its shape. I think this will work a bit better. I'll let everyone know when I try it tomorrow.

Thanks

Using the technique I mentioned above deffinitly works better. I've now made 7 molds of different shoulder pads. the second layer added to beef them up is still drying so I haven't gotten to test them out yet. The test mold i did produced a pretty good copy.

So, last question on this topic. I use vasoline as a release compund, and now its in the recesses of the cast. does anyone have a good idea of how to remove it?

Sorry for the double post but I figured that since I'm asking for help, I could at least post some pics of how its going.

Here is the original, mold and copy.

I need to make 13 more pads to finish all the bolter equiped legionaries. I'm working on 24 of the buggers currently. I like to get the rank and file out of the way before I move on to the fun stuff.

Anywho, I appreciate any help about the left over vaseline issue on the casts.

That molding is okay. But if you want them to look spectacular! You should watch my youtube molding videos...now..I can't post them on here..so you'll have to check my Youtube channel.

=-D I've done several shoulderpad castings (and will be doing some resin ones soon =-D ) and I'm sure I videoed it... =-/

Good luck. Great model there too.

Thanks, I'll have to look at these when I'm not at work.

As for posting my work, I'll get around to this in a different thread. I've posted most of my Legion ish on a different forum but I it was one geared more for fantasy armies. Is there any problems posting stuff that has been posted in a different forum? would a link be better? Mods, any suggestions?
