scruff
Ok, model number three finished from my masters of the chapter boxed set. A slight break from painting blue here for the chaplain. Apologies in advance for the pictures as the lighting I have is not great and has cast shadows in places like on the cloak. http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o322/scruffbc/DSCF1544.jpg http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o322/scruffbc/DSCF1547.jpg http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o322/scruffbc/DSCF1546.jpg http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o322/scruffbc/DSCF1545.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160362-um-chaplain-conversion/ Share on other sites
Bloodstone
Isnt that helmet made out of the tyranid skull that comes as a trophy bit on Scout sprues? The paint job is great and the idea is rather dynamic. My only gripe is the tyranid skull's long profile makes the helmet look short and flat to fit the head of a human. scruff
Was given the skull by a friend so not sure where it came from I'm afraid. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160362-um-chaplain-conversion/#findComment-1881444 Share on other sites
Terminatorinhell
it wooul have looked a bit better if you trimmed the nid head to the fron half of the face and put it on the top forward half of the helmet like a visor but that looks good anyways. Shadowstalker Grim
Excellant work! Its nicely done and makes me want to throw something similar on a model........ Ive heard that the skull comes from the scout set, but it could come from a genestealer box set (i wasnt aware it came with dead genestealers) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160362-um-chaplain-conversion/#findComment-1882390 Share on other sites
Zeller
That is a very cool chaplain. Unique, symbolic, and well done. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160362-um-chaplain-conversion/#findComment-1882408 Share on other sites
Emperor's Scourge
Pretty sure thats the skull from the Sniper Scout sprue...because I have one on my desk a few feet away as I type this. Of course, its always possible that they put it on other sprues as well. Montuhotep
Looks like the metal veteran with the mace as the body base, he's lopped off both arms, both shoulders and the head though. scruff
It's the body of the master of the chapter who normally has a power sword and powerfist holding a helmet. Captain Pugno
That is looking fantastic! i particularly love the helmet! i would like to see a medalion or something in his left hand(something dangly!) as I feel that has the potential to make the model super rather than awsome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160362-um-chaplain-conversion/#findComment-1888979 Share on other sites

GumbaFish
I really like the way the helmet came out, for some reason I think that idea might look nice on a salamanders chap as those tyranid skulls sort of have that longer reptilian feel to them. XKhalilX
scruff, looks amazing! I actually had the same idea with a Nid head, but I plan on shaving the head down and only using the Nid "face" and filing down the marine helmet. yours seems to be a lot less work in that sense. Really great looking man. excellent job. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/160362-um-chaplain-conversion/#findComment-1892324 Share on other sites

Tyrannicide
Have to add to the others, really nice use of the Tyranid head as the Chaplain's skull helmet. What do you plan to do with the last model in the Masters of the Chapter box? As for the last model, you'll have to wait and see although I need to save for a new saw before I can really crack on with it.
